For me it was the system agent voltage. 1.2 was too much I left it at 1.15

Thanks I'll check that. When I get home later I will see if re-seating all of the components helps, and check their pins for damage.

What do you think causes all these memory issues? Loads are getting 44/55's even with z170 certified RAM modules. Are these issues just teething-troubles that will hopefully be ironed out in the next couple of BIOS versions? Incidentally, when can we expect the next BIOS update?

Going back to my earlier issue for a moment, just out of curiosity, what could explain that initially I haden't been able to run my memory modules at their rated speed/voltage and then after increasing DRAM/SA/VCCIO voltages and being able to boot at those settings I could even set everything back to auto and use XMP without increasing any voltages? Quite uncanny I'd say.

Many thanks
Raj,

Could you address the above questions, please? Please do not get me wrong, I do not presume to argue with you, I'm genuinely curious as to why so many people are having memory issues and other "anomalies". Please feel free to be as technical as you wish to be, I'd actually appreciate having a bit more insight into this. smile.gif

Any info on the next BIOS update?

Two things:

1) Memory training.

2) Memory sub-timings.

I do not have precise info on the availability dates of UEFI updates - only that there will be some soon.

Hallo in here

My system:
ASUS Z170 Deluxe
Intel 6700K
Kingston HyperX Savage (2x8GB 3000MHz) (HX430C15SBK2/16)

I am having the same issues, with my RAM when using XMP, but the RAM kit that I got are not in the QVL, so maybe that is my problem, and I will return the RAM to my vendor, to get the Corsair Dominator Platinum (CMD16GX4M4B3000C15) instead because they are listed in the QVL.

When I run the system with default settings, it boots fine, and I get into Windows.

But the odd thing is, that when i make a shutdown, it sometime hangs and the monitor is black, I then have to hold in the power button for a couple of secons before it turns off.

Is this a RAM relatet issue, or shall I RMA the mobo.

As a follow up to this after I RMA'd the motherboard I received a new one from Newegg and it worked perfectly right out of the box with all 4 RAM sticks.

Hey guys, stumbled across this thread when I had what sounds like the exact same problem as a lot of you - I've done two identical builds over the past week. One works flawlessly. Asus Z170 Deluxe, 6700k Skylake, 980TI, AIO watercooler. The second one I put together, RAM slots A1 and A2 would throw up QCODE 55 or 41 if anything was in them. B1 and B2 were fine, no problems. Swapped RAM around, reseated everything, upgraded the bios, installed Windows, messed with voltages and what have you, absolutely no luck. Would loop with qcode 41 until I reset the cmos, at which point it would halt at qcode 55.

After a few days of troubleshooting, I decided to RMA the board. Broke everything down, boxed up my CPU and RAM - and then noticed a bent pin on the mobo. Lower right middle. Just the one. I only noticed it this time because my work light was at just the right angle. I very carefully straightened the pin...and bingo, board now works perfectly.

Just wanted to pass this information on - I don't know if it's going to be the problem in any one elses case, but with the number of people experiencing failure of the A1 and A2 slots specifically I thought it worth putting out there. Check your pins carefully. Might be there was a bad batch of boards that got out.

Assemling a pc for a friend here, and same issue.
Asus Maximus VIII ranger with i7-6700 cpu and kingston HyperX fury 16 gb, sometimes boots with one module in A2 (not always), never boots with 2 modules in.

I took a pic of the cpu socket, reseated cpu...no go
Does anyone see anything wrong on the pic?
