Dante's bios in this thread was the first one i ever flashed on any gpu. I put it on both of my 980ti's and had no idea what i was doing when i started. It turned out that it is actually very easy. Check out the video in the first post of this thread http://www.overclock.net/t/1573308/nvidia-gtx-900-cards-custom-bios-upon-request/0_20 it'll thoroughly explain what you need to do.

The one difference will be that you will not be modding your stock bios then reflashing it. You'll just save your stock bios to your computer then flash dante's. Search some of my posts in this thread since i asked for some help on how to do it correctly a couple months ago.

You will probably not get better temps. In fact this will likely raise your temps because the bios raises the voltage to the maximum safe level. However, you will be able to achieve higher overclocks despite the higher temps. I have my cards in a custom water loop so temps were not a concern for me, i can't comment on how much higher it'll raise yours.

I get this error when trying to run Firestrike. It skips the demo and combined test before they actually load and then pops this error after "finishing"

Any thoughts? Might have to do with the BIOS flashing?

Nevermind, I think it was some 3DMark related stuff... reinstaled and everything working fine

Hey guys, I want to do a SLI with this 980ti and bios, if I do a SLI, what type of PSU should I get? I was looking to get this one:

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-TITANIUM-Crossfire-220-T2-1600-X1/dp/B00R33ZBQU

Or this one:

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-PLATINUM-Crossfire-220-P2-1200-X1/dp/B00KYK1CKI/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

I am open to other options as long as they are Titanium or Platinum. I appreciate the help!

I have this bios on both of my cards. If you're only going sli the 1200w ps is fine. In fact 1000w would be more than you would need.

It probably depends on what else you have in your system... wink.gif

I can give you a few numbers from my system to get you an idea of the power draw you can expect (without knowing the components you're using).

I've got a heavily overclocked 3930K along with two of these G1 Gaming 980Ti cards (also overclocked). Then there are lots of hard disks and PCIe cards (RAID controller, sound card, SSD) and a whole lot of watercooling gear (2 pumps, 42 fans, 5 fan power amps, LED power amp, fan-controller) all drawing considerable amounts of power.

To the numbers: The system is drawing ~200W idling on Windows desktop and around ~1150W under max. load. This is with 2 instances of Furmark and Prime95 on all cores with 12 Threads (12x 4.8GHz @ ~1.42V).
Of course this is a rather unrealistic scenario. Under any reasonable workload, the system is not going above ~900W and sits typically at around ~700W while gaming in SLI and around ~450W while gaming on only one GPU.

Being that said, all these measurements were taken at the wall, so any inefficiencies the PSU might have, have to be taken into account here.
I'm using a rather old Seasonic SS-1000XP 1000W PSU. This is a Platiunum unit and as such it has an efficiency at around 90% at max. load. Doing the math tells you, that it delivers around ~1035W while drawing these 1150W from the socket. Sure this is slightly above the rated output, but at an rather unrealistic scenario.

I'd say this 1000W PSU is absolutely fine and adequate for a system like that, as Edge0fsanity already mentioned. If you've got two CPUs or a third (fourth?) GPU, only than you might need something bigger.

So did your max (24/7 stable) overclock go up using this firmware?
1.274v seems quite high for air? Don't your cards get way too noisy.

I'm at 1520 with +33mV on stock BIOS and I'm at 2400-2500 RPM during gaming, which is fine. But at 2800+ RPM it gets too noisy for my taste.
