I agree that your observations debunk or prove that ASIC is only a "small" part of a cards overall clocking ability! I've seen several high 70+ - low 80 ASIC cards that couldn't keep up with your card ... You have a really strong card, but IMHO your at the threshold (1600+) where you need to go sub-zero or at least a "chiller". Looking forward to your results anyway ... you may find Johan45's comments/results interesting, see HERE ... and I'm sure you've already seen KingPins comment HERE ... wink.gif

Thanks!

I have seen them --- I'm the SS in Vince's link. I've had 11 Maxwell based cards now and this is the best so far by far.

I know once I can get it cooler ( > < that closer to a chiller) it will do more. If you compare the graphics #'s to pretty much any other air/water card it's right there until you get into ln2 land.

I have a decent grasp of the issues with Maxwell and make it point to educate others that voltage may mean nothing on some cards, more on others and a crap ton on a few.

I love hearing "why won't my card hit 1550, I need more volts" when the fact is you may cap out at 1.212 and more power does squat. I had a 980 KPE that would run 1530 at 1.175-1.18 and all adding voltage did was increase the heat and decrease stability.

Anyway ..... I hate the cold weather but I can't wait for it to get here................... at least into the mid to high 30's F any who. laughingsmiley.gif

I now have the top OCN FS 980 Ti score.

I just got Witcher 3 and played it for a while now with no issues. I know I've asked this before but after a couple weeks I've finally been able to identify my max stable overclock on air with this bios.

Core: 1541 mhz
Memory: 7800 mhz
Max temperature: ~78C

These are the overclock settings I've been using for a while now. I remember a post in here saying that it would be optimal to keep the temps ~76C. Just for peace of mind, I want to know how safe you guys think it is to run games at my current settings? Keep in mind, I'm on air at the moment. I've never hit 79C even whilst DSR @ 4k gaming.

Typically in games like BF4, Crysis 3 and GTA V my temps hover from 73C-75C. Witcher 3 seems to push my card a bit harder and give me a higher temperature. Everything is maxed out.

I got 68.2 ASIC on mine and will only go to 1470 on the core with g1 bios. That is pretty average right?

Nothing is really "average" with the Maxwell.

Try this bios you may be really surprised as to how much you might get. thumb.gif

Finally got a chance to test my card with this bios, didn't break the 1600mhz barrier like i had hoped. Hit the wall at 1595. Gained ~15mhz over the stock bios.
