[WCCFTech]AMD Radeon R9 Nano Suffers From Major Coil Whine Issues – Poor Quality Chokes Blamed To Be The Reason - Page 21

I agree the 980ti is a better value but they don't make one the size of the Nano. The 970 ITX is pretty decent but is still larger than the Nano and slower than the card my Nano replaced (Watercooled 290X) so that's a no go. Also, I own a 27" Asus Freesync monitor (identical panel with G-Sync was $250 more at the time) so I need to stick with AMD for freesync purposes. Ideally Nvidia would make a Nano sized 980 that supports freesync but I don't see that happening anytime soon smile.gif

The idea was to downsize as I have very limited desk space. My monitor, keyboard and mouse take up most of it hence why I'm going for a tiny ITX build. The Dan A4 is the only alternative case I've seen but it has some issues that bug me. It's more expensive and uses a ribbon cable for the GPU plus it has pretty limited height restrictions for CPU's coolers which I'm not fond of. The Osmi is the ideal small footprint ITX case that can still support a 3.5" drive and BlueRay burner. It's a more versatile case other than the video card choice.

The Osmi is actually shipping out now where the Dan A4 will take a while longer it appears.

Not sure if I can't link to other sites but it's available to order. Ships free as well! First batch is apparently being assembled and sent out. If you order it'll probably take a while as these are being hand assembled.

FYI I tried burning in my Nano for the better part of the weekend. Made zero difference WRT coil whine frown.gif I've got it all packed up and ready to be sent back tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have a replacement within a week that has acceptable whine else I dunno what I'm gonna do with my Osmi once it arrives! mad.gif

thumb.gif Thank you, this time my payment went through. But it's order # 792.....I guess when it eventually arrives I'll be using it for Pascal Nano or Arctic Islands Nano....tongue.gif

No worries. FYI I'm order # 787 so only a few orders behind you. This is a very niche case and I doubt more than 100 have been sold altogether. I've asked the seller for an approximate ETA so hopefully he'll get back soon an then I'll let you know.

No doubt with the shrink to 14 or 16 nm we will get more efficient cards. I fear the Fury Nano is still too power hungry for this case and the way it emits heat (both from the front and back of the card) means a good amount of heat will be dumped back into the case. If the Nano does not work out I may have to bite the bullet and just grab a 970 ITX and live without Freesync and then sell it when next gen cards arrive.

Hopefully your RMA unit is much quieter for you. If not then that will be disappointing...
