[Guru3D] Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Gets DX12 and a Benchmark says AMD (Updated) - Page 18

Yeah, I don't feel like Dx12 is adding much value for us gamers really. Most devs (under the boot of the publisher), not all but most, seems to be catering to the lowest common denominator. Like it is some kind of great thing that the game will work in Dx12 on a GTX680 from 2012. Why? I feel more and more like Dx12 is uninteresting for gamers now. Vulkan seems to be where it is at. Id did it right with Doom. We should ask for proper Vulkan games. Dx12/11 is not very interesting. Give us Vulkan games already.

Problem is that we will probably mostly just get half-assed Dx12 games. One or two proper Vulkan games. Sucks.

On Topic: New Deus Ex might have been interesting from a tech standpoint if it had been Dx12. You can't really "patch" in Dx12. Game needs to be made ground up for it. Mankind Divided sure looks like a Dx11 game with some Dx12 bells and whistles taped on to it. Shame on the publisher, shame on AMD and Nvidia. I suspect Ms has had a fat finger in it too, but probably it is the publisher who's the main villain. As per usual. Square Enix never fails to disappoint. Wanna bet when they'll announce DLC for the game? Couple of weeks?

Each one will get a boost.

And gain what? less PPI? PC monitors should never really go over 27" unless a very huge resolution comes with them

I mean cpu not bottlenecking the gpu at all in any scenario.

There's this camp for every single game. Hardly any PQ difference between 1080p and 2160p either.rolleyes.gif

VXAO was DX 11 only for Tomb Raider. I just finished playing it.

The idea behind this was to allow more complex scenery. More on screen npc's or whatever. Maybe we'll see something come of it with the console refresh. Doubt it though since those seem to be VR focused.

Yeah but I think Ashes of the Singularity is the only game to showcase that. It'll be a while before real benefits of DX12/Vulkan become common.

VRAM?

The game uses about 4.7GB VRAM @ 1080P with DX12, so yes the VRAM could be the issue. This game will push RX 480 sales.
Or perhaps the game will be better optimized when the DX12 patch is released in the wild along with suitable AMD drivers.
