Now Microsoft turns out to make the new API for Windows 10 exclusive is another thing. Though I secretly agree with you to some extent on DX12 being gimmick just because MS wanted us to install Win10.

Why do people not realize that we should not feel the need for Microsoft AT ALL to enjoy GPUs, video gaming, graphics rendering, graphics API market ? Since people do not realize it ever, here we are stuck in Direct3D. redface.gif
Quantum Break started out as "this game is only possible thanks to DX12 and Windows 10 technologies". few months of lackluster sales on WinStore and now we are getting it on steam, windows7 etc and dx11. i'm not denying DX12 has many benefits, but they aren't as huge as MS makes it out to be. Let me put this another way, MS cares about DX12 so much because of exclusivity which is incentive for people to get Win10 and buy software form their primitive WinStore.

I'm just sad we won't have DX12 from the start.
After witnessing the rather petty and delicate disposition of the nvidia user base with games like AOtS and Hitman, I think it's a prudent move to give them the API that gives the most performance out of their hardware. If AMD were to came out rocking it harder here at the start because of dx12, sales of their game may very well falter.

AotS is just a mediocre game from niche RTS subgenre and Hitman was a unoptimized always online trainwreck with shoddy business practices. All the negativity surrounding Hitman doesn't even have anything to do with Nvidia or AMD.

Do you even know or care why AMD appears to have such performance boost in DX12? That's because AMD had extremely poor performance under DX11, where as Nvidia had near peak performance in DX11.

Also, Nvidia already has good gains in Async with Pascal that was released months ago, yet people with red glasses are still in complete denial about this fact.

i know you are trolling but still i'll bite. the only game that allows to toggle Async is AotS and it shows gains with Pascal GPUs. Read 1080 reviews. you'll have to ask game developers to allow to toggle Async in all games, not me.

There are so few DX12/Vulkan games, 10 or so, that is nothing, and they are all just benchmarks redface.gif

Ah no, no it didnt.

Besides, it runs piss poor even with dx12.
Pretty sure he was being sarcastic.

I agree with most of what you recently said. Except for this, this is extremely exaggerated topic. You can cherry pick benches where AMD GPUs are looking extremely slower and so can I cherry pick benches in return that AMD GPUs are not that much slower. Yes AMD Fiji seems to have some architectural problem that it may be can't be utilized fully ever or god knows. Apart from that other AMD GPUs are nowhere that bad in DX11 as people claim about it, in fact I can show you exactly otherwise in many cases but since the benches vs benches would be a never ending war, I refrain myself from doing so.

so nothing to backup your so called fact but i'm the one trolling here ? lachen.gif it doesn't show any gains because async path is still disabled for pascal iirc. and whatever single digit % gain you saw on pascal was within margin of error.

if you don't know, rotr has registry hack for on/off async, but as far as i know it doesn't show any gains on nvidia. i haven't paid much attention to it so don't know current situation. but if nvidia gains anything they will make sure everyone and their mother will know about it.

i already said Pascal shows gains with Async in AotS and also in Time Spy. can't you read or what? if you can't be bothered paying much attention why are you demanding so much accuracy and attention from me?
