Works nicely with AMD and it finally lets AMD show it's true potential, whereabouts on Windows it was crippled for years by Redmond's tacit support of only Intel (which they have paid them handsomely).

People always give biased data based upon Windows stats, instead of using Linux because then AMD is shown to be quite powerful when the correct code is given for them to use.

I've done my fair share of digging into the OS and disabled a ton of settings. I've finally gotten Cortana to stop sending and receiving network data. Even after disabling everything Cortana would still send data. Not anymore.

I think I'll also wait for Wolf's release. This is still good info I suppose. There seems to be something releasing everything week and a half now.

Anyone else amazed that we're at a point where we are comparing software that prevents a corporation from spying on you yet is legal.... How this is legal still boggles my mind.

What boggles my mind is how quickly people are getting use to it and are buying these excuses.

You are right, this is much, much worse because you can't hide anything, ever. This is exactly what the Stasi wanted and finally we have it and then we have the gall to vilify the Gestapo, those guys were amateurs compared to what the NSA and their cohorts Google and MS (let's not forget Apple and Ubuntu) do.

But I am sure you have nothing to hide and have nothing to fear because there are no innocent people in prison, no innocent people have been executed and the UN didn't select the greatest beacon of freedom, rights, democracy and open governing Saudi Arabia to the Human Rights Council.

The world we live in isn't a farce, it's far beyond that.
It buys the best government corporate bribery can buy. Call it oligarchy or fascism, they're just synonyms for the same tyranny.

This.

Windows 10 has some of the most atrocious conditions and in practice behaviour - in addition to forced telemetry, selling it to third parties and forced automatic updates, I'd add the hidden mandatory telemetry that pings their servers each time you type anything in the search box even if you turned on-line search off - that violate some of the most basic principles we should all stand for.

I don't think the best way to do it is by systematically violating their rules such as disabling telemetry and mandatory updates and hoping that their sneaky system doesn't eventually revert the behaviour. Simply don't use it. These are important issues that should not be taken lightly. If someone gets to think that violating the EULA solves the underlying issue, they'd be kidding themselves. You can't patch an inherent lack of trust by running around these problems and selling yourself cheap and even more so if it's for a few half-baked DX 12 games that will never fully realize the PC's potential because on the other end Microsoft has a console to cater for and to make it worse it's the weakest console of this generation.

If you all want to help the community you can instead tell people that they can't suggest repeatedly violating the EULA but that they can voice their worries by telling and asking Microsoft to do differently and for the time being holding off on the 'upgrade'.

If you empower them with more marketshare maybe in three years you'll get something done about it, which is what happened with the return of the Start menu (and still not quite there in my opinion).

You win.
