I guess I just learned about UHD550, too late.

I'm positive we will see updated versions in the future but I've learned a lesson here. Perfect pixel and crate shipping are a must.
Thats a sick tv.

Hi guys,

I mailed AW 2 days ago to get some infos on the PP version and :

We are afraid that we are not able to provide a perfect pixel monitor at this moment, and we cannot guarantee when we can get the monitors restocked.

What do you think ? Should I keep waiting for an unknown amount of time or get a non-PP version ? Would dead pixels be really visible on a display of this size ? confused.gif

I was considering the PP UHD490, but I've read on the dedicated topic that it has no Passive 3D layer, so the 550 is my only option now frown.gif

I would suggest avoid these altogther- i have a feeling the're all being phased out for newer models in recent future or maybe company is winding down. Recent problems have made me think buying a large Samsung TV is far better.

Well I already switched from Nvidia to AMD in order to get Freesync as I'm set on this monitor ; switching to a Freesync-less TV would make my purchase useless frown.gif

Hi buddy!

Believe me, I was bent on buying this monitor. At one point, I even started emailing ebay stores, offering them more money for perfect pixel and crate shipping.
Truth is, we were both too late. The time to buy this was when greensum was still selling perfect pixel and shipping crates. I was so determined to make the 4K jump, I kept bumping up my budget, I have doubled it at one point and I still ended up buying a TV. When a ebay store can't meet your demands even after you offer them the best possible incentive (more $$$) it's time to move on, if you ask me.

You are free to do as you please of course but I think you are better off giving up on these. Large monitors are just too much of a niche market to expect new supply to constantly refresh the market.
If you want a perfect pixel one, I'm pretty sure you will have to wait for the next model they release. If you end up waiting for that, make sure you jump on it early and don't buy unless it's perfect pixel and crate shipping.

Good luck to you! Maybe I used up all the bad luck there was with these monitors so it may work out for you.

Hi guys,

2 weeks ago I asked a confirmation from a Korean reviewer regarding 3D compatibility on the UHD490, as it works with the 550.

Here is the answer : Nope. Nowadays uhd550 does not always use 3d passive panel. People do not like 3d panel for the use of monitor.

I then asked accessorieswhole and they replied just now : The UHD550 models we have do not have 3D fuctions..

It would seem the current batch of UHD550 do not have the 3D panel anymore.

What do you think about this ?

3D is dead anyways. Samsung TV don't have em anymore.

You're right ; but it's not so much for movies, but for games (using TriDef) I wanted the 3D frown.gif
