Benchmarks - 6700k vs 5820k - Page 3

So i just went with a 5820k, thought I would ask in this thread what do you suggest for mobos?
Also for the ram anything above 2400mhz is good, right? shoudl i get 4 sticks of 4 for the quad channel.. or is it better to pick up 2 x 8gb and add another 2 x 8gb later?

My other components:
CORSAIR 750D
2 X SSDS
2 X R9 290
1 X EVGA G2 1300

Color: ideally black or black/red

price: best value, doesn't have to be cheapest

brand preference: asus/msi

MSI X99A Godlike (expensive)
MSI X99A MPower (affordable, better for 3-way SLI)
Asus Sabertooth x99 (affordable, better for single or 2-way SLI w/ additional x1 card. Buy an intel protection plan, though. Small chance of CPU frying bug).

I just went with 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws 2666 (4-series) DDR4 even though I don't see myself using 32GB any time soon. You don't really see real world benefits past 2666 from what I've found. You'll want to get at least a matched 4-pack to avoid any potential issues (though they are probably slim). Keep in mind, if you plan on using c-states, etc, then you'll probably be stuck at 2400 anyway (unless I've missed something) because higher speeds run at a 125 strap instead of 100 (required for c-states).

The 5820k is not OCed, I think, so it's the same results that we all know. frown.gif

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed they didn't try to overclock both systems and compare the improvements. I figured I'd post it here anyway in case someone found it useful.
