Cheap gaming PC - Page 6

Just going to leave this here...

Be careful pairing AMD gpu's with weak CPU's. Really wish they would of included AMD cpu's also, but, they didn't.

"..... I mean, outside of gaming I think AMD cpu's are fine and meet most people needs......""

People mean a lot of wrong things about AMD CPU´s.

I have several single thread old games (on line) and i run all with very good performance.

Some of them are on line single thread and a great example is RFactor, GameStockCar, Fia GT Racing Game2 (GTR2) and even PlanetSide2.

On line serves with SEVERAL players and i dont have a single problem or whatever.

Modern games run even better.

Most games, if not all, wont have issues with a good tunned FX chip, or even stock.

And just because a game run at 130fps on Intel and run at 90fps in the AMD rig does not mean unplayable in the AMD CPU.

See you around.

That i5 will give you much better overall performance without needing to chase it with OC'ing.

I think that's a solid build you should be happy with. You'll get good all around performance in anything you do and it won't require running crazy high voltages, putting out excessive heat and noise.

My experience with them just wasn't positive. My entire outlook on PC gaming has shifted from very poor, to superior after switching platforms. I don't know what to say other then what I say is based off of my personal experience and disappointment with FX chips. It's nothing personal and if you're a FX owner that's happy with their chip that's cool. I just can't recommend them after my experience. I wouldn't be willing to build a system for a friend using a FX chip so I can't recommend them.

As a point of disclosure, why don't you tell everyone the specifics of the 2 systems you are comparing? Cpu's motherboards and gpus please.

When I moved from AMD to Intel (early 2014) this was the system I used...

FX 8320 @ 4.4
990-FXA-UD5
16gb 1866
GTX 780

Below is the system I had my ol'lady on before moving (2 months ago) her to an i5...

FX 6300 @ 4.2 (later my 8320)
970a-ud3 (later my 990)
16gb 1600
R9 270x

*I've since sold the 8320/990. I also used my AMD parts in various other systems. I was happier with my FX chips paired with the R9 270x then 780. My current AMD based system is missing Ram and a SSD atm.

What exactly were you not happy with when you used those FX based systems?

The only combo I recalled you having your 8320 set up with was the 970 ud3 with a 212 cm cooler, which is a near perfect recipe for disappointment.

My G3258 OC to 4.5GHz badly bottlenecked my 970 so the i3 would be a good call imo.

With today gaming advances, i would advise to not buy anything dual cored. Go for i5 at least, or FX-6xxx/8xxx / Phenom II x4/x6.
