Have you tried AMD Overdrive? I know it supports 790 boards, but not sure if it supports all of them.

It makes a big difference which version of AOD you are using , it will open and run on most post 790 boards from what I've seen, but different things disabled.
I'd look for some very early versions or versions from about the same era as your board.

I might just throw my rig back together and play with it a bit to see what I was using with it - its been a while since I've had it up and running.

thank you very much i found a few different versions of overdrive and have one that is adjusting the fsb

i was trying it last night and getting to fsb of 360ish is still ify am getting a few bsod mostly 9c not to sure yet if its the ram or cpu-nb

am i right in thinking that if it just restarts its cpu vcore and bsod is ram and cpu-nb related?

Glad you found one that will work smile.gif.

As for the bsod's , most likely it's to do with the ram , but if you want to try a program like this http://download.cnet.com/WhoCrashed/3000-2094_4-75205821.html it may help you determine what is causing it. I've never used it, but i see others recommend it from time to time.
