8140 OC to 9590?? - Page 4

i have a corsair 760T case... should i just turn around one of the top 3 outtakes into a intake? or?? i dont have my 360mm rad installed yet until i get the mobo block
post #32 of 51
Not sure what all you will be running (240 CPU only)? If so intake running a P/P setup and if you can any fresh air flow towards the VRMs will help but I always run dedicated fans (front and backside) even with the WB installed

When it fits please give this a read http://www.overclock.net/t/1258253/how-to-put-your-rig-in-your-sig as it'll help those trying to help you biggrin.gif

We both have huge cases and I run both rads as exhaust. One out the back and other out the top with seven intakes plus 3 on the mobo.
I've heard most take the other route and draw in fresh external air for the rads which exhaust into the case and than exhaust out rear with real good results.

Still haven't gotten around to changing it up as my temps are fine where they're at. One day maybe.

As i Am right now i have (all fans are thermaltake riing series)
IN-TAKE:
Front: 2 X 140mm (280mm rad)
Bottom 120mm
OUT-TAKE:
Rear: 120mm (120mm rad)
Top: 3 X 120mm (360mm rad)

most likely using rear 120mm as mobo dedicated loop
and the rest as cpu/gpu (CFX)
depending on cpu OC and Temps i might put it under the 280mm
And if my gpu's get to hot i might be able to squeeze in another 120mm on the bottom for a total of 480mm rad space...
i plan on going ALL out.
BUTTTT my gpus are the last thing im going to WC because as of now i have 2 7970 GHz editions and im contemplating a CFX Fury setup (non X)
i just cant justify spending $250-300 on 7970 blocks... they have served me well lol

When I made my reply I thought of you ShrimpBrime and I should have said there are exceptions. You have the proper board, cooling etc... Sad thing is most people don't. They just get a 9590 and pop it into a board whether it supports it or not. Then for cooling they have an H60. Then they are disappointed. They look for answers why their rig is under performing. They find this forum and find out they need a really good board, a really good cpu cooler and really good case ventilation, not to mention a stout psu. Then they blame AMD. Instead of blaming themselves for lack of research.

^^^^^ exactly why i even considered a 9590 and everyone was bashing me lol
as to me is seems that my setup is more than adequate....
hmm... well ill let you guys know when i hit 5.1 on all cores stable tongue.gif
so is each chip dif on its stock Vcore??
i got answers from 1.4v-1.45v stock...
You need to be more specific about vcore and VID. Here is the last stable run from my dying 9590 at 4.7ghz. Note that the VID is 1.513 volts while it is running under 100% load at 1.428 vcore.

I will have my 9590 within the next 5 hrs... the only thing i didnt think about and am getting nervous about is my ram...
i currently have PNY XLR8 1866MHz 8GB Downclocked to 1600MHz..
but with my OC (on fx 8140) its at 1760MHz or something close to that hence why i downclocked it..
is this 9590 going to be to much for the ram i have??
i do have it downclocked as i was hoping it helps make it easier on it...

Not the best that's for sure but simply set it up stock (manually enter all the info on the sticker) and start with a CPU only OC.
See what it will do this way. If there are any issues increase the Dram voltage.

It's common for the AMD platform to require an additional .05v to .1v even for stock settings as Dram is rated for Intel which uses less Dram voltage by nature. Remember as you raise the OC this can also require additional Dram voltage too. If needed 1.7v max shouldn't bother a thing.

ok.. so i just want to update...
i have my 9590...
i set all cores manual to 4715MHz
so far running prime95 i have my Vcore set to 1.38v with a min usage of 1.368v (wow! im shocked!)
although before getting too excited i have realized my VID is a steady usage of 1.488v NOT fluctuating at all... not sure what to think of this (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)...
Ratio set to 23.5 Bus is set to 200..
RAM set to 1600MHz (might bump to 1866MHz)
HT 2600MHz
NB 2200MHz
im at a Steady 4715-4735MHz
Ran prime95 1 1/2Hrs.. (i know its not enough yet)
hit a temp of 72C
Every run i have done is approx 15 mins to look for steady usage/4.7 without thermal throttling
it seems each bump of lower Vcore SIGNIFICANTLY lowers my overall temp atleast 1C per drop on vcore
mind you i DONT have my mobo block yet OR my 360mm Rad yet...
This is all simply on a 120mm at the moment until I tear apart my 4770k build this week for the 280mm...
im really just wanting advise at the moment..
feel like i might have lucked out a little on this one..
wont know until i try to hit the 5GHz range next week!!
Seems my Vcore is kinda low??? still boots w/o a prob... SIGNIFICANTLY faster than my 8140 OC
