Asus Deluxe x99 + 5820K?

Thread Starter
Hey guys as the title states I picked up a 5820k recently and am now looking for a good match for a motherboard.
I like Asus mobo's and would like to stick with them. I have a found a deal locally on a Deluxe X99.
Would the Asus Deluxe X99 be a good match? From my research this is a mobo that includes the PLX chips that allow for better distribution of CPU lanes for GPUs.

(I am planning to run 2 x r9-290s in CF)

Thanks for the feedback. thumb.gif

Thanks for the reply. I was guessing it would work, what I was more concerned with is the lane issues between 5820k and the x99 motherboards. From what I understood some are setup better then others to offer better lane support, this is what I was referring to.

Hey, I just upgraded to 5930k and Asus X99-DELUXE/U3.1. My first motherboard had boot issues but the replacement seems good so far. Lots of bad reviews floating around about the Asus X99 DELUXE in terms of reliability and boot issues but its the only board I like the look of!

Coupled with Corsair Dominator 3000mhz DDR4, this thing is a beast! I went for the 40 lane 5930k instead of the 28 lane 5820k just to future proof a bit but the price difference is big!

I was reading up on your motherboard and it seems to have a SLI/CFX switch that allows 2x and 3x configuration. When you set it to whatever configuration you want, apparently the LED lights on the slots light up telling you which slows to put your cards in. I'd say just do that.

Yeah they do...its only an indication though. I leave them turned off as they are kind of a 'warm' white so doesn't match the rest of the board if left on

Well yea lol. Turn it on to see where you need to put your GPU's. No need to leave them on after. It's not like the GPU gremlin will come out and switch your stuff every night lol.
