Open source VRM Power Board

Thread Starter
Im kinda lost on why no one has thought of doing this but does anyone have the knowledge to just design/build an external VRM Power board? For those who aren't familiar with an external VRM Power Board, Im talking about ones like the G-Power from Gigabyte and the EVGA E-Power Board.

Ive been looking over what the designs are and they seem relatively simple to design schematic wise. I think it would be pretty sweet if we could come up with some open source design that allows us to make our own VRM boards rather than trying to find these things.

Any experts/engineers out there have any idea on feasibility on such a project?

well it is possible to do this BUT...
-datasheets and other documents are under Intel NDA (chips that support Intel VR12 and newer i think) so no chance for open source frown.gif
-not much chance to get stuff in low quantities
-price- if you not make it in thousands it will be really expensive to make

maybe use some older control chip (again availability might be a problem) or i saw someone make own design with fpga not sure how it ended. i will post link if i will find it
