And then I'm under the impression that promoting such practices - violating the EULA - is against OCN's ToS.

Not to mention their hidden telemetry that pings their servers each time you search for something, even if you turned on-line search off. How can I take such an OS seriously when they have no regard for people's privacy?

Let's put the tinfoil down and be real for a minute.

Yes, you can disable those things, there is software to do it that won't have any negative impact. Secondly, if you are that concerned you can not only run that software, but you can even run a Pfsense box, or other hardware appliance. Problem solved.

Second, they're not doing anything worse than what Facebook, 98% of mobile apps, Yahoo, Google, etc, etc, etc, are already doing. So the feigned privacy gets pretty old, especially from people that do it via social media platforms.

If the concern is real, and your position warrants it, then do yourself a service and use proper means to protect it. There are very viable software and hardware measures a person can put in place to take care of it.

The popularity of Dota 2 and CS:GO has been mentioned here. All valve have to do is port those games over to vulkan and it will create enough traction for it, Hell, if they are really that interested in boosting it, make HL3 Vulkan only. That's for desktop. When it comes to mobile I can see Vulkan gradually replacing openGL ES by the end of the decade.

why limit yourself to an api that can only be used on one system?

even if you're coding just for windows, still, why? you get no benefit and if later you want to port to another system you can easily do it with vulkan.

I don't know how much cross-over there is, but for one thing, any AAA game today is going to hit the Xbox 1. That's going to force a developer to use a DX12 variant one way or the other. Seems financially practical to go ahead and stick to DX on the computer.

Now imagine if it also supported FreeSync out of a DP port?

Yeah no. Windows 10 market share is really low. I would agree if we had dx12 + win7,8. But now not that much.

Ashes of singularity will come with vulcan support too, dice is also part of kronos group development.

Basically the same as OpenGL. And how popular is it?

We'll see if Vulkan is really as fast, flexible and with dev. tools as good as those of DirectX.

Another valid point.

Opengl is bad. Period. No good documentation, no multithreading, no good tools.

Vulcan is exactly the opposite. If you search about vulcan you can read about the tools, the validation process for features levels and many more things. Also SPIR-V is awesome.

And vulcan is/will be faster than directx.
