Say 'Hi' to a newbie OCer !

Thread Starter
Hey there,

I've been reading around and as I got an old piece of E8400 which I wanted to boost a bit. I noticed people were having a lot of fun with them in the past and decided that I should experiment with it. Then I found another CPU on a reasonable price, that was not bad for the purpose ... the Q9550. So I decided to buys some toys like mid-class air cooler, and a descent case and PSU and give this old chip a second life. I should say that I was quite surprised. This old chip is being stable at 3.6Gz with my crappy RAM and MB. Next step will be to replace the ram sticks and find a nice MB for this CPU, but I am not sure how far should I invest in such a machine smile.gif

Anyway ... works awesome now and hardly hit 70 deg under full load (Prime95)

As this is and intro thread, I'll keep myself of asking question here, but any tips and tricks are more than welcome thumb.gif

Cheers,
Ado

Hello and welcome.
Depending on what you want to use it for it could be worth investing in. Just look around the site and read some info on it to see what it's really capable of.
