Mixing 25mm fans with "slim" fans for push/pull

Has anyone tried mixing standard 25mm fans with "slim" fans for push/pull. Any tested this yet?

IMO for best results with P/P identical fans should be used. So if I was to use a slim fan it would be on both sides. I am using slim fans in pull on a 60mm Alpha Cool rad with good results. If I had the room I would have probably used a push or pull configuration with a 25mm fan over P/P with slims.

Actually I think as long as they are close in RPM's and pressure you'll be fine.

Nice topic, because I am going to do this config myself.

I am using EK vardar PWM 3000 RPM (which obviously won't go in 3000) as push. And Coolermaster xtraflow slim 15mm PWM 1500 RPM.

My thoughts were to just the use the slim fans to help push out the warm air away. But I am also afraid the will do a restriction to the airflow if the Vardar is going 2200 rpm and the slim fans maybe just 1200, hope they won't restrict airflow or anything. Guess I will have to find out. wink.gifthumb.gif

I'm having a hard time believing some of the spec that fan manufacturers are putting on their slim fans.

As comparison, Corsair SP120 (full size fan) at 1450rpm, generate 1.29mm h20 static pressure and 37.85 CFM flow
http://www.corsair.com/en-us/air-series-sp120-quiet-edition-high-static-pressure-120mm-fan

EK Vardar at 1450 rpm, generate 1.42 mm h20 sp, and 52 CFM.

Gelid Slim Fan at 1500 rpm, generate 1.26mm h20 static pressure and 48.3 CFM airflow
http://gelidsolutions.com/products/index.php?lid=1&cid=2&id=83&tab=2

Coolermaster XtraFLo 120 slim at 1600 rpm, generate 1.76mm h20 and 58.4 CFM
http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/case-fan/xtraflo-120-slim/

Enermax TB Vegas at 1600rpm, claim 1.68 mm h20 and 63.26 CFM
http://www.enermax.com/home.php?fn=eng/product_a1_1_2&lv0=4&lv1=69&no=219

By these numbers the slim fans would outperform regular fans, which I find to be too good to be true. What's everybody's thought?

It's a well known fact throughout OCN that almost all fan manufacturers overstate their specs, this is why there is lots of independent fan tests done to compensate for this misinformation. Of course a slim fan manufacturer is going to try and get their specs equivalent or better than a standard fan to help with sales, but who knows how they test them, manufacturers have the luxury of working in perfect test environments not necessarily real world environments.

Does anyone know of any independent tests done for slim fans?
