I have to agree, this is the sort of stuff that I think .. "Meh" when I see VR being used, It's nothing new. However if you compare this to the Valve "portal" VR demo, I think that one looks a lot more impressive than a first person tour demo. Occulus has yet to 'wow' me with anything they've done, I think they'll fade into the ether because they'll be surpassed by everyone else.

I just hope that the so-called "VR revolution" is a better one this time around. If you're wanting a VR headset you need games that use the medium, so far the games I've seen demo'ed on these things anyone with a KB and mouse can play, strapping a TV and Headphones to your forhead and calling it VR isn't really impressive enough to warrent money thrown at it. So it either needs to be radically different enough to capture the imagination or it'll be just like the Xbox's kinect / PS Move controllers were.

Great tech demo for sure. In all honesty I miss a good Star Trek Game. I loved Bridge Commander back in the day.

Really impressive interior lighting. That is what really stood out, the florescent lighting was very accurate, and there was some pretty brilliant soft lighting and smooth transitions.

Weird combination of effects though. Some of the textures looked 4k, and others really low res. The geometry and most of the objects was pretty poor. During the first two and a half minutes I checked the post date in the OP to make sure it wasn't an old thread, lol. I was like what is this, 2004 biggrin.gif?

Still, cool demo. Getting close and closer to VR every day.

I do follow the BC2 development, but i am really not sure if there will be ever a released complete game... That one-man development just does not seem serious to me, neither does it progress fast enough...
BC1 was also my favorite game. I even created a full conversion canon mod for it smile.gif
