Windows 7 Pro vs Windows 8.1 Pro vs Windows 10 Pro

Thread Starter
Greetings

I hope you can all give me a little insight.

I just got my second SSD, New 980Ti KPE and some other toys and will be building my raid array tomorrow which means I get to format and reload (what fun but much needed)

The issue is that I have both 7 and 8.1 and with 10 being free I can get that as well.

Now which would you guys consider to be the better OS ? ... (I have heard some pretty nasty things about 10 though)

Please give your opinions so I can make an informed decision as to which OS I should install.

Regards.

A lot of people are loving windows 10 and a few people have some problems with it. I personally have not touched it yet and I am still running win 7 pro 64 bit.

Used 8.1 and 7 extensively just so I can form an opinion.

Windows 7 is still the best OS imo.
In 8.1 my office peripherals like scanners and printers didn't even work, while they work flawlessly in 7. The driver that emulates XBox controllers (motioninjoy?) BSOD'd the system in 8.1, that worked flawlessly for me in 7.
That and that the layout and design is so stupid imo, just couldn't force myself to continue on that OS.

Windows 7 worked without a hitch anytime, anywhere.

Can't comment about 10 but all of those spying reports I've been hearing as of late can't be good.

I'd stick with Windows 7 until DX12 becomes more prominent. When you decide you need DX12 then you can skip 8.1 and go straight to 10.

I've tried all of them. My favorite is still Windows 7. I'd rank them like.. Windows 7 > Windows 10 > Windows 8.1 IMO.

Windows 10 would be better if all this spying stuff wasn't going on and if it wasn't for that and a few other minor things it'd be my favorite OS. I dropped Win10 because of that and because some of my apps that I use don't have support in it yet.

Windows 7 Pro, and it's not even close.

7 Is still the best, the only reason I use 8.1 is because 8.1 has native USB 3 support, which 7 doesn't have.

I use them all. 7 I can use blindfolded, 8.1 is faster as long as I remember what I'm doing in that hot mess and 10 is the best of both worlds.

Spy on me, I have nothing to hide and it's the world we live in. Besides, the clever people have already figured out how to disable a lot of this.

Most of you will upgrade by summer 2016 anyway cause that's when the free upgrade ends.

Like it or not, it's where we're all going eventually frown.gif
