120hz tv but...

Thread Starter
So I have a benq 120hz TV, but it has only VGA and HDMI ports, and my laptop has HDMI, DP and DVI.

What combination of cables and adapters do I need to run it higher than 60hz?

I am a bit confused.

A 120hz tv is 60hz native. Just as a 240hz is 120hz native. It's all marketing bs with Tv's.

HDMI to Display Port Should work in theory.

Does the TV's manual list what interface is 120Hz capable?

The majority of TVs, especially outside of certain recent (generally 4k) models, don't support 120 Hz input, even if they can refresh at 120 Hz or higher (or have processing to mimic such effects). Does BenQ even still make TVs anymore? I know projectors, yes.

It is a 120 that's why I bought it. But since I just moved to Taiwan. And all the instruction manual is in Chinese I have no idea what it says and I didn't come with any cable other than power.

No, you bought it because you didn't research properly. BenQ only makes 120-144hz monitors up to 27" (or 34" ultra-wide=same height as 27") and the only TV's which can actually be set to 120hz without overclocking are not advertised as being able to. 120-240hz TV's are 60hz TV's with motion compensation (blur reduction and de-judder) features which must be enabled in the menu.
