So i`m guessing its not the voltage, strange.
Hint : Try to find if it has something to do with those "unhalted core cycles" I keep hearing them a lot , and it seems its some way of power saving for Intel.

@Geexile @Mr-Dark

Ok so I left AIDA64 and HWMonitor going all night when I went to bed, I never sleep my machine so it runs all night (other than the screen turns off).

Found this when I got up (AIDA64 on the left, HWMonitor on the right):

The only things running are, uTorrent and Corsair Utility Engine (other than background processes).
Machine woke up fine and I'm using it, did a AIDA64 stress test for 30 minutes which showed no clock drops under load (They always show in the first 5 minutes when it was happening).

There is no way a computer wouldn't crash with a CPU/Memory clock of 5Mhz..

Update:
I noticed that when the clock drops happen HWMonitor will stop responding for a second, but the rest of the system is fine.

hello,

I have the exact same issue as OP

i started to see random 0.5 sec audio and visual freezes when i play games or just watch videos a couple of weeks ago.
They are completely random so i started to use occt and afterburner to see where the issue is and i have the same BUS and CLOCK drop.
I was on win 7 and updated to win 10 when it come out but it started recently.
i remember to see those freezes when i started to play MGS 5 when released maybe that could help...

here a screen in occt; http://imgur.com/vnuAraS

Ok guys here's some more findings.

I ran HWBot x265 Benchmark, maximum settings to stress the system to the max (same settings that found a instability the other day).
Benchmark passed perfectly, but I found this when I maximized HWMonitor Pro:

Now there's no way the x265 benchmark would of finished if the clocks dropped that low, and not to mention I got a higher mark than when I run it yesterday.
I ran AIDA64 for 2 hours and not a single clock drop seen on AIDA's results or HWMonitor.

I'm still leading a towards a combination of Windows 10/Monitoring software and UEFI BIOS not talking correctly.

Edit:
As I was posting this I got the 75Mhz idle clock drop, but the machine never missed a beat. rolleyes.gif

@schoolofmonkey Yeah.Well that is what i`m thinking as well, i`m guessing everything is normal.I don`t have any performance drops as well,my system is running perfectly . I did run Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool which should detect problems with the CPU if there is one and it passed it without problem.

I've just started to run Open Hardware Monitor (http://openhardwaremonitor.org/), so far no clock drops like HWMonitor.

Try using that and do your stress tests again.

Please run again the benchmark with Open Hardware Monitor running in the background. Make sure other monitoring software is close.

In the Open Hardware Monitor, make sure to tick "Show Plot". This will open graph(s) window. Tick both CPU Clocks & Load (usage) to make them show up in the graph(s) window. After running the benchmark, take screenshot & post it here.

If the clocks dropped when idle & there's absolutely no issue at all, I'd just shrug it off as buggy reading.

I've been running back to back HWBot x265 Benchmarks for the last hour with these settings:
64Bit, Realtime, Pmode, 4k, Overkill Mode 2x.

When using Open Hardware monitor I never had a single clock drop register, now I only saw your post then so I forgot to turn on show plot, but as you see just by the main window it never picked up anything, even in idle now there's no drops:

What I would see right before the 75Mhz idle clock drop in HWMonitor is the idle clocks dipping under 1200Mhz, it would go 1198mhz, 1177Mhz, 1165Mhz then the program would stop responding for a second (not the machine I could still open and use other programs) then a 75Mhz drop.

In AIDA64 this would only happen under load during a stress test once, but I think that was due to a lack of voltage, increasing the cpu voltages fixed it, and stopped x265 benchmark from crashing.
But again AIDA64 would only pick it up HWMonitor didn't, where HWMonitor would pick up the idle drops, which aren't happening with Open Hardware Monitor.

This is the AIDA64 clock drops:

(Hope that made sense..lol)

I have the same as you 100% but the wired thing why the **** drop in Aida64 at stock setting ? thats very very strange to me

I will ask in Haswell-E Threads if someone can try Aida64 stress test on Win10 ..

I will steal that picture bro hope you don't mind.. biggrin.gif
