Help On Case Led Case Lighting

Hi !

So I bought myself a couple meters of leds but not quite sure how to make the connections with the psu.

My strip led package says:

SMD 5050 Led
Voltage: 12V
LED QUANTITY: 60 LED/M
SKU: 2126
POWER: 10.8W/M

I want to cut a 2 meter (+-) trip and make my first attmep at lighting my computer. tongue.gif

How can I do so?

PS: I also got a soldering station... but not sure if i'll need it...

Thank you!

The strip should have built in resistors, so you should be ablo to come off the power supply with a molex plug 12v and direct solder to the +/- terminals on the end of the strip.

Do I need an extra molex (where I will solder the red/black wire) and plug it to to psu molex?

Sorry, this is my first time soldering something tongue.gif

I used a molex to fan adapter like this, cut off the fan connector, and soldered the wires directly to the led strip.

Here's a video that shows how to solder on a led strip.

Thank you ! Rep +

Any molex would do? Can i cut a molex from an old psu? Should i be concerned about male /female molex?

It has to plug into your current power supply. Typically the molex on the pwer supply is female, so you probably can't use one from another power supply as they will most likely not plug together.

Just checked. Yes, the psu has indeed female molexes.

So whant I need is a MALE molex conector and the then solder the + - wires.. to my molex biggrin.gif

I guess something like this will work, right?

Correct. Youll only need to use the 2 wires on the far right, black for ground and yellow for 12V.

If you plan on playing around and adding more in the future, getting these might help you.

Soldering on the strip isnt exactly the easiest of soldering jobs.

Hello onyxaltezza! rep + thumb.gif

I got a monochromatic led this time. And yes, I intend to add more led strips to the case.

Can I plug 2 strips with 2 different led colors w/ the Gapless LED Light Strip Connector or shal i connect it separately with another molex to the psu molex?
