Need Help Overclocking 1090t black edition to 4ghz. - Page 2

Check in the BIOS, software voltage readings tend to be off.

Run something like HWInfo64 or HWMonitor, under you motherboard sensors something like Auxiliary may refer to your VRM temps. It may not, it depends on the board.

i mainly play arma , so looking for a max overclock , i don't know anything about CPU-PL , and all these other voltages. if i go to 1.485 cpu vdd and 1.47 cpu Voltage it crashes after a few minutes. PLease any help would be appreciated , and please keep all the "don't do it , buy another cpu comments out . and "you will damage your mb vrm . just helpful answers please thanks

I had a 1090T that was the exact same way. Was good at 3.8ghz all day long, started loosing stability at 3.9ghz and 4ghz was good for a quick validation only.

Phase Locked Loop (PLL) voltage is a standard for generating a clock frequency at the bus side. This differs from a core voltage and tends to do very little for overclocking multiplier only. If your pushing 300 bus clocks, raising Cpu PLL voltage would have some effect for stability perhaps, but also can increase socket temps rapidly.

HT link voltage you can raise up to 1.30v safely and CPU/NB usually doesn't need more than 1.35v in most people's books, I always ran 1.450v while pushing hard on NB frequencies of 2.8ghz and up.

If you can't "hit 4 ghz no matter what I do", it's likely it just won't do it. At least perhaps not on air cooling.

Temps you want under 50c for good overclocking Phenom II.

For now that is all I can think of without actually seeing some screen shots and load temps.

My upper border is 55c (Only happens under IBT, P95, never in games though). The chips is rated safe to 62, so I take 7 celsius is enough. Just personal preference.

You don't have LLC on that board

MSI's Core Center gives that voltage, but I do not know if there is a version that's supports the board you have - AMD Overdrive may the next option you have.

Next time you play Arma open task manager and see how many core's it's using, you may be able to turn off 2 cores and get a higher clock = better performance in that game if it only uses up to 4 cores.

Anything you can do to get it to run cooler will also help , airflow on the VRM's and socket area ( front and back) . The MSI's don't like to see core temps go 50C + on the phenom 2/ thubans so take that into account when comparing against other boards.
Good luck

many years ago, we came to the conclusion that 52c would be as high as any one would want to go. 10c is good headroom, your 7c is headroom enough I think thumb.gif

Stress test territory anyway thumb.gif . I never see the 50s ingame. (Exception - 52 with 33c ambient with no A/C, I tested - and went out of the room all sweaty).

Is your 1055T the 95 watt version?

I believe it's the 125W version (Not 100%, but I think that it is - TDP is 136.80W in software). Overclocks pretty well anyway though, and temps are fine other than the miraculously hot days like the one I mentioned since I don't have A/C. It's still nothing to write home about, but definitely higher than regular temperatures. My ambient right now is 20-22c.

EDIT : I couldn't get 4.0 either tongue.gif just wasn't stable.

My 1045T is a 95 watt, it runs amazingly cool , even at 4.2 ghz + it is fine on a 240 aio .

I get the feeling Phenoms were the last desktop grade thing AMD got right.
