lol damn I got extremely lucky

I had a bit over $87 worth of store credit, and figured I had nothing to lose by trying to put in an order on Friday. Was actually half surprised somebody was there to pick up the phone, and even more surprised they did honor my store credit. Lady on the phone (Kama) was actually real nice, and told me I had almost $12 worth of credit left if I went with Priority Mail shipping. Told me the cheapest shipping option was almost $10 less. Was in no rush to get items, so used that instead and crammed two more items into the order.

The order was shipped the next day, the tracking number works and it's already arrived at my local post office. They still did ship by Priority Mail though so I'll see if they actually updated the order. Regardless I really can't complain since I thought that $87 was as good as gone!

Quick update: Received all my items yesterday. Packed well and all items accounted for, including the extra items I tacked on in exchange for slower shipping. They likely shipped Priority Mail by mistake but I'm not gonna complain. tongue.gif

Their website also seems to be working again. When I phoned in the order, the Kama was the lady who took my order, and Doug is apparently the shipping manager. I know people have strong opinions but I would still recommend them on the condition that you use a prepaid credit card, and can either get a much better deal at FCPU, or they carry items that are not stocked anywhere else. (eg Bitspower rotary 30° compression fittings)

Oh and of course if you have any store credit left, I strongly suggest you use it while you still can.

Interestingly I just received an e-mail from FrozenCPU titled "FrozenCPU.com | #057xxxx has been cancelled". I indeed had placed an order with them right before that whole story happened in February. The order was never fulfilled and I got my money back long time ago. So, whatever that means, looks like there is some activity, and someone may be cleaning up their order database.

That's a shame. Bought some hard to find stuff on their website.

I just received this email as well:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
This is an email notifying you that order #XXXXXXX has been cancelled. This order has been cancelled for one of the following reasons:

- Cancelled per the customer's request.
- Failure to remit payment if an order is placed via Western Union.
- Paypal payment was received but the order was not shipping to a confirmed address.
- Failure to complete Bitcoin payment.
- Failure to get in contact with the customer via telephone or email due to invalid telephone number, email address or by not returning a message within a 24 hour period.
- The order has been flagged as fraudulent.

The thing is I paid in bitcoin and was never refunded. I can prove payment via the blockchain, but these types of transactions are somewhat of a grey area regarding consumer-protection laws. It would be nice to receive a refund back to my btc wallet, but I'm not going to hold my breath for that (I'm not even sure what rights I have as a consumer regarding btc payments... maybe some article in the Uniform Commercial Code??)

I just bought a Crosshair for this very reason. So, now I see that a site that's been around since 1999 magically is no longer accurate when it says it has two in stock, just as soon as I get the board.

I am really thinking about quitting the enthusiast PC thing. I just lost a processor that I had painstakingly lapped to a faulty cooler + liquid pro (fusing) and now this.

What's next, a video card that doesn't just have the wrong ROP count, cache amount, and which has VRAM that operates at 28 GB/s... but one that disappears when you try to use it?

I was bitten by the IBM Deathstar. I was bitten by three expensive (at the time) OCZ Vertex 2 240 GB ssds. I was bitten by the Macbook Pro that had the faulty Nvidia solder which was never corrected. I was bitten by the white Core Duo iMacs that all develop screen defects (vertical lines). I seem to have a mystical knack of getting products that end up being a massive disappointment.

The entire reason I spent more money on a new board and chip (and the water loop) was so I could put the thing on water and not have to deal with noisy VRM fans. who-let-rip-smiley.png
