@NKRader Sweet. Funnily enough that box of goodies is similar to what my shopping cart looks like, well almost. I'm planning on springing for the AC Pro instead of the Lite/LR models and the ER-X instead of the ER-POE. Along with a managed 8port PoE switch.

they really are quite amazing products for the price that they charge.

Range is about the same as my old Asus N66u, the features and abilty to control everything the way that I want and have insane stability and much more wifi bandwidth (im going fully wifi in my house apart from the server) are the reason I chose this upgrade and not an instant increase in tangible speed because my old wifi had more than enough range and speed for what I currently have I just wanted alot more headroom and for example i want to create a filtered childrens wifi and such.

LR has slightly better range and features apart from the huge speed abilities if you can actually get signal strength to allow those speeds.
it is pretty amazing hardware, it was really really crazy to setup.

Yeah, otherwise I'd go for the Lite (or maybe even LR for the extra range*) but I want proper 802.3af/at PoE instead of the passive PoE nonsense.

*though no real need for it as I only have 72m^2 (~775sqft) area for the AP to cover, even my old and clunky AP handles it just fine.

Just an update for anyone building in a Nova X2M; the ICY DOCK FatCage MB155SP-B (5 drives into 3 bays) dock did NOT fit in my case. NKRader mentioned that the Supermicro cages were too tall top-to-bottom; the Icy Dock cages are too wide side-to-side! I stripped my case down to just the frame to make sure nothing was pressing in and causing the 5.25" brackets (I got the same ones you did, NK--the three-bay-tall ones) to be too tight--it's definitely a no-go. I tested the bay width (between the brackets) with a standard 5.25" Blu-Ray drive, and found that the optical drive fit just fine--it was a bit tight, but certainly within spec. The Icy Dock 5 into 3 cages absolutely did not fit, which struck me as odd.

I noticed a picture on the first page of a Nova X2M with the 4 into 3 IcyDock cage (this one); did those go in without any problem? They look like they have a slightly different construction (the portion that screws to the brackets is only as wide as a single bay, rather than carrying that thickness all the way up the side of the cage). I'm only planning on using eight drives in the server anyway, so dropping to a 4-bay cage doesn't hurt my plans, but I'd like to make sure I don't have a second set of cages to return if I can help it. tongue.gif

Yes I am pretty sure that those fit with no problem, After reading these updates I went ahead and emailed jim and being that they are insanely busy currently they obviosly cant look into this now, BUT in the future they will look into increasing tollerances POSSIBLY due to vendors going so far outside spec with their devices.

heres how its running currently, only the Torrent Seeder is up, im working on the other two also becuase they rquire some fan work before being able to complete. It is running fully on SSD currently as I have yet to transfer my main media server.

things have changed, im going to be running a pair of internal USB drives for booting FreeNAS as this board only has a single sata controller and I was unable to passthrough the intel drives for raid. I still have not decided tho..

But heck its running and after getting all that ubiquiti gear finally setup I figured I would get this tied in and start getting all the firewall and port rules setup.

Also on a side note to solve the thermal throttle of the 950 Pro, I'm in the process of doing a run of custom heatsinks, when done will use normal thermal pad so won't void warranty and will be black.

How much are you looking at? I might be interested in picking one up if it won't effect a gpu being installed above it
