[Build Log] Big Enchalada: Air 540 Watercooled Build, SLI GTX 980ti's

Hey there, I am beginning my first ever watercooling build. Wanted to find a place to fully document the process and start some discussion. Since I am very new to this any input would be awesome!

PARTS:
CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K 3.8GHz
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (4 x 4GB) @1866
OS: Windows 10 Ultimate
Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Extreme
Hard Drive: 2x WD Caviar Black 2TB
SSD: 2x Samsung 850 evo 512GB in RAID 0
Power: Corsair HX1050
Graphics: 2x GeForce GTX 980 ti
Cooling: Watercooling Build!
Case: Corsair Air540

WATERCOOLING:
Waterblocks: 2x EK-FC Titan X - Acetal+Nickel, EK-Supremacy Clean CSQ - Nickel
Backplate: 2x EK-FC Titan X Backplate - Black
Reservoir/Pump: EK-XRES 100 DDC 3.2 PWM (incl. pump)
Radiators: EK-CoolStream PE 240, EK-CoolStream PE 360
Fans: 3x EK-Furious Vardar FF5-120 (3000rpm), 2x Enermax T.B.SILENCE 120MM
Coolant: Mayhems Pastel Orange
Tubing: PrimoChill 1/2in. Rigid PETG Tube
Fittings: Rigid Revolver Compression Fitting 3/8" x 1/2" Diamond Knurled 10 Pack - Nickel Plated Brass - Black

CONCEPTS:
Made some 3D renderings to help conceptualize the build, and the PETG tubing runs. Clearance seems fine and if all goes well, this will be representative of the final product.

Again any input about this build will be taken in with open arms, now

CURRENT STATE:
Got some Custom made cables from KrobraMaxx, very happy with their color, however they length of the individual cables are not uniform and make it hard to get the cables to arc, making them not look as nice. Will be picking up some suitable Kobra Raceways soon.

PARTS:

Hey there everyone, updating this post again! Almost all of the parts needed to get this build underway have arrived!!!

Here you can see the EK Party has arrived! Titan X block + Backplate, 360 Coolstream PE Rad, Pump / Res combo, and DIY bending kit. Also picked up the second GTX 980ti and EVGA 2 Way Bridge. Also here is the Promochill Fittings, look below for more information on the 90 Degree rotary fittings from bitspower sizing issues.

PROBLEMS:

Update time! Ran out and bought some parts within this last week, and decided to do a test fir of the EK Coolstream PE Front 360 rad, and this is where our problems arose!

As you can see, the holes on the rad do not line up with those on the case as the side with the fittings is being blocked by the roof of the case. Although an easy solution would b to flip the radiator upside down, I would like to preserve the tubing runs depicted in the renderings and therefore I find the best solution would be to simply drill the holes for the screws out a little bit bigger, like so.

If anyone else has better ideas fr a solution let me know!!! TBM9 Out!!! thumb.gif

Update #2:

Recently received my shipment from PerformancePCs containing all of the fittings that I "THOUGHT" I needed for the build. Unfortunately upon arrival the 3/8 ID by 1/2 OD compression 90 Rotaries that I had ordered they were for Soft Tubing (Of Course). So I ordered the Bitspower 12mm fittings, about .00000001mm too small for the 1/2in OD tubing. Where does one find a 90 Degree Rotary to G1/4 fitting?! As I am having a lot of trouble locating one myself. Thanks Again Everyone!!! cheers.gif

The build is COMPLETE! And temps are great! Here's some shots I took today!

Let me know what you all think of the end result! The coolant is actually really faded even after I have drained and filled it twice with Mayhem's pastel orange so I am disappointed by the results as it looks nothing like all the other builds that I have seen with pastel orange coolant.

I like the design of this. Many air 540 builds seem to be slightly ghetto to me... Also those concept renderings are spot-on haha, had me thinking they were real at first.
