I sit here for a while and think about whether it is worth to build an Mini-ITX Budget Gaming PC Based on a AMD CPU (I am thinking of a 860K). I really like Mini-ITX Builds and Small Form Factor PCs and i dont have that much cash. I also want to re-use some of my old PC Parts:
RAM: 2x 4GB G.Skill RipjawsX 1600MHz DDR3-RAM
PSU: be Quiet! Pure Power L8 430W
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 660 OC
So, because i dont have tons of cash and i am also not a Hardcore-i-must-play-all-games-on-ultra-max-settings-and-4k-Gamer, i take a look to AMDs offers at the ITX section.
What do you think? is it worth to build a AMD-based Mini-ITX gaming PC with a 860k? What would be the best Graphics card for this Setup?
If you're going Mini-ITX with FM2 socket, I recommend you to go for an APU, the 860k is actually a 7850K without the GPU, so the 7850K/7700K would be a good choice, but it will be a little slow on AAA titles at 1080p high/ultra. In other hand if you want to go with a discrete GPU I would recommend a 750Ti or a R7 260X due to it's low power consumption.
If you already have the GPU, you'd be better off buying an Intel system. The single threaded performance will be better for games. You can get a decent proc (G3260) for the same price as the 860K.
The mobos are cheaper too. Cheap FM2/FM2+ boards look to start around $75 as opposed to $55 for an 1150 board.

and U get much higher CPU performance than a 860k
860k will bottleneck GTX660
The 860k is faster than pretty much any of the locked intel dual cores, and games are starting to arrive that need 4 cores anyways (some won't run on a 3258 regardless of overclocking). That being said, last I knew all of the mITX FM2+ boards exhibited throttling under load with no way to fix it, even having APM off didn't matter. I tried a few of them and overclocking was a no-go, even running consistently at stock clocks with the 860k was very difficult.

You must be very bad at overcloking or you just had bad luck with those motherboards you tried, I've used some FM2+ boards to OC and they worked very well with no issues.

I specified MINI ITX. Which is what OP wants. I've used the ASRock, MSI, and Gigabyte A88X ITX boards, haven't tried that newer MSI A68 but I doubt it is any different.
So you agree with me, as I said the locked dual cores which automatically excludes the 3258, yes? What do you do with your sweet 4.5ghz pentium when you want to play FC4 or DA:I? I was pointing out that the 860k is a decent compromise but isn't very good in ITX form factor.

I would love to see an FM2+ mITX running something stressful for hours with a decent overclock and no instances of throttling. I was trying it around 6 months ago and every single board throttled based on the VRM load regardless of CPU temperature, it was very frustrating.
Too bad that are not more CPUs available for FM2+, quite an interesting socket. (I'm a little bit an AMD Fanboy). Zen and maybe ITX-Boards for AM4 are coming Q4/2016, i think. I dont want to wait so long
. Anyhow, It seems to me that the 860K is a good CPU and a decent compromise between Cost and Performance. And also quite interesting for Overclocking (but with that i have no experience).

Hey il link you my build as I run an AMD Mini ITX gaming rig. The 860K is a great CPU for the money. here is a pic of my rig using the ML07 case from Silverstone.
OP, i just helped friends upgrade their rigs. They went with ~100Euro for 7650K APU + ~45Euro for MSI/Gigabyte A58 motherboards + 50Euro for 2133 Mhz RAM. This is far cheaper than getting a discreete GPU + whatever Intel option that guy is offering. In games like CS:GO you will be able to play with max settings (2x AA) at full HD and get 60 fps. It is more than enough as well for all MOBA games, however with the new DotA2 engine , you may have to turn down some settings. If you insist on getting a discrete GPU, get either the 750 Ti or the 270x. The 750 Ti is cheaper than its 950 "successor" for about the same performance. The 270x should be cheaper than the 750 Ti, but it runs a bit hotter and consumes more.
And no, the CPU will not bound any of those listed GPU's, you will be GPU bound in almost anything. Those GPU's will allow you to run at some medium settings most of the game at 1080p.

Thank you, its very hard to find a good CPU Cooler that doesn't block the PCI-Slot. Maybe the RaiJintek Pallas fits. The CPU Socket is veeery near to the PCI Slot.
@ku4eto: Thx, but i will definitely a discrete GPU, i prefer AMD's GPUs and if i Bus the Raijintek Metis, it limits the GPU's length to a maximum of 170mm, so there are not sooo many cards to choose from. Maybe the R9 380 ITX Compact from Sapphire.
But now im looking first for a good CPU Cooler that fits on the board. Maybe there are better Mainboards, too. I've read that the MSI's BIOS is Not so good for overvlocking.
Does Anyone knows if the Pallas fits on the MSI?
