FX 8350 OC

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,

I got a stable OC at 4,7Ghz plan to push it a little bit further.
Now my question is, ist there any option/method that makes me able to downclock when i in Idle/light use?
I am pretty new to overclocking and searched the net but i couldn't find anything maybe, because i don't know how the mthod is called.

My specks are

FX 8350 4.7Ghz
Asus Crosshair Formular V (Bios 2201)
Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 (2x4gb)
Corsair H110i GTX

Greetings Zappy

You can enable "cool & quiet" with your overclock. but be warned that the large and frequent voltage swings will play havoc on stability. It take a lot of messing around to get c&c working where you're at, much less with higher overclocks.

i was at 4.7 with 1.45 volt before but i drop to 4.6 because the voltage needed to stabilized was to much and cause throttling in really hot summer day. This with h100i,exept for some benchmark the difference between 4.6 and 4.7 is marginal at best and for me was not worthing the heat produced.Just my grain of salt

I'm at 4.75Ghz at 1.476v, i have no problem with heat whatsoever, i had a maximum of 50,3 C° while gaming and 25-30 C° while idle/lightload in summer.
my main concern was just the lifetime of my cpu because of the constant high voltage/clockspeed

As long as your temps are under control, high volts aren't really an issue with these FX CPUs.

This. Worry more about temps, keep the socket temp under 72, core under 62. Try to avoid sustained periods of 55 or over when under load. Once you get your overclock solidified, feel free to turn on Cool n Quiet and C6 State capabilities. Personally, I leave them enabled, but I disable APM, which causes my overclocks to be unstable.
