Out of marvell n intels raid, which one is best for ssds?

Its complicated which one to choose as intel is software n marvell is not hardware nor software raid.

It's a ARM based raid chip, Intel is firmware/software raid.

So which one is best?

This is the card I own.
Vantec UGT-ST644R
http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16815287028

Still trying to decide to use it ir not. Windows n linux runs good on it but there is no software for linux, not that important.

Linux will not install on my intel raid.

There are rumors this card drops hdds/ssds when utilized.

So both have pros n cons. I yet not have seen this raid card drop my hdds when backing up big files like os backup images or benchmarking.

When running in raid0 on the raid card i ran the windows cmd to see if trim is enable, win7 os reports back trim is enabled.

since no one knows i will give the raid card a run for its money. If I do, yay I get to use linux.

I have 2 of those vantec raid card. They worked fine on X58 based motherboard but they did caused some errors once in a while. Marvell chips are not that reliable from that I've seen. Support seems to be nonexistent lately as well from what I've seen. The HDD / SSD drops rumors you heard might be the kind of issues I had, I just had these errors a couple times where my SSDs would stop responding and I would have to shutdown the PC and wait like 1 minute before turning it back on since just a reset wouldn't get the card to detect my SSDs right away. I stopped using the cards to run my computers after it did that a couple times and got myself some real LSI 9260-8i 512mb and HP SA P420 2Gb SAS raid controllers to fix the issue. Been working fine since then thumb.gif
