I am not only blaming DAO....if it didnt happen with DAO...it might have been COD....or skyrim later on....just saying it took one immensely popular title to kick start the whole thing.... once those floodgates were opened...then everyone else decided to get in on the game and now it is morphed to half the game for full price...the rest of it in DLC form...

Just so you know, the DLC in origins was in generally hated not to mention very immersion breaking. Also, if you think DAO was the first game that made DLC popular you are so wrong. Remember the famed horse armor? Or what about stuff like guitar hero where they sell you songs? Or free mmo's where they started to nickel and dime you for everything. Or mobile games. Need to go on?

It's the games that charge $60 for the game, then still want $30+ for all the DLC that I have a problem with.

I spent £50 on Destiny PS4 originally just for the original game then had to pay £15 twice for 2 separate DLCs now the new expansion which does add about half the games content again is £40.

Just by going on pure percentage of game content 50% of £50 does not equal £40.

Destiny has a horrible pricing model, totally gouged and corrupted. Its what happens when companies are not regulated and free to set the rules. I personally like the game, its a lot of fun imo but it does not excuse the pricing practice.

Did I miss something? I clicked on the source and I do not see what everyone is complaining about. I only see that if you preorder the game you get access to the beta. What is so bad about that? The full game is 60 usd. If that price is exclusive to preorders only then I missed it. If your not sure if the game is for you but want to try it then pick up the half pack. The rest will cost just 5 dollars more later on.

I thought we would be happy about this. It seems to me like they were listening to our complaints.

The only issue I'm seeing here is that it is only launching with half the game. At least they were upfront about it.

Lol you girls acutally didn't know that dlc and microtransactions came from PC gaming. Filthy MMOs and the likes of Mable Story spread that crap like the plague. It's only fitting and ironic that it's now the main business model for Valve, the so called savior of PC gaming.

Tis something im trying to understand as well. the full game itself is still 60$ regardless(like most AAA titles). The only thing different is of what I see is the game isn't being released in full at launch, and there's limited version at a lower cost to essentially allow people to play part of the whole 60$ package to test the waters to see if they even like the game without being burned for full price. its quite literally the "intro pack"

@above, F2P model and DLC aren't the same thing. they are completely 2 different business models. A F2P model provides a base game with microtransactions which are used to fund the game and its development. DLC is usually tacked onto games that are paid for. It is essentially having to pay more for what you had originally pay for in order to get more content
