[Fool] Intel Will Finally Be Upping Its Core Counts With Cannonlake - Page 2

What is 6700K priced now? Could i mean the 6-Core will be more expensive? Personally i want at least 6 core for my next CPU to last me another 4 year. 3770K - 3 years so far so good.

It's about time. 22nm Xeons already have 18 cores on a single chip, and who knows how many the 14nm ones will have... Keeping the consumer line at 4C is insane. 4 cores are like a tiny spec on a 200mm^2 + die.

Looks not nobody read the OP. This is a system on a chip and its probably going to be in something in a low TDP form factor.

It makes perfect sense. How many consumers out of everyone who buys a PC needs more power than a 6700K?

What if it is finally a 6/8 core with little or no space wasted on integrated graphics?

+rep

this is exactly what i have been wanting for awhile now, they made a 2500k with no integrated graphics so it could be higher overclocked, i really would love to see a special chip like that with cannonlake designed forpc builders biggrin.gif

come on intel show some love biggrin.gif

That requires an enthusiast motherboard/chipset.

I agree that they should bump core count to 8 as standard.
Even if we don't have a lot of applications for it right now these things are probably going to be in use for a decade. We've finally got reasonable quad-core support in some games and it's time to take the next step.

Yeah, the thing is that if you want enthusiast hardware you gotta pay enthusiast prices.
