These benchmarks run single core, so let's say his 4770k can only do 4.4 GHz, doing this will make it easier for the CPU, thus possibly helping get higher clocks.

Its much better to have multiple caps in parallel vs one cap of the same value. Why? Well, its all about total ESR that you introduce into he system. Think of caps as having resistors built in, so when you put resistors in parallel is half's the total resistance. The more caps you put in parallel, the more you decrease the inherent resistance thus introducing lots of capacitance with minimal resistance.

The bigger question is does introducing ESR really matter for something like this? The answer is maybe...but why now have some fun building cap banks for max win biggrin.gif

Guess what?

Took the cooler off of one of my GTX cards to see what I have and it's a G80 core, not a G92. redface.gif

I saw elsewhere it was said the make I have was a G80 core so I popped the cooler off to see and there it was.

The RAM chips unfortunately are Hynix, not Samsung and that explains why it seems to fall short compared to other cards of the same model designation but at least I know what it is now.

Here's pics to show this.

Placed them in sunlight to get the best pics I could and turned out OK I guess.

It's not eligible for the competition though tongue.gif

From what I've seen, G92 cores have 256, 512 and 1GB of ram.

I'll let Ras or whoever decide, that's only fair but just making it known not all 8800 GTX cards are G92 cored. biggrin.gif

It's stated pretty clear a few times...

This contest is limited to Geforce 8800 of the GS, GT, and GTS varieties only. All GTX and ULTRA cards are banned from this competition, real overclockers use G92 Core.
Quote:
1. The video card must be a Geforce 8800 GS, Geforce 8800 GT, or Geforce 8800 GTS.

In the interest of simplicity the contest is limited to 8800 GS, GT, and GTS.

@kryton

Why have you put the 6 and 8 Pin connectors on the back of the card? tongue.gif
