Geforce 8800 DESTRUCTION Competition - DISCUSSION THREAD - Page 49

Out of sheer curiosity, have you seen any benefits to your newer way of doing things (the 1 or 2 capacitors) versus your first card where you had a large bank of them? Or is it just a case of them doing the exact same thing in the end?

so you used 6.3v caps for core and mem and 16v for input?
Is there no difference with ocp mod on cold?

That picture is just the 12V input side. I have 7 new banks of caps built up for this card...not sure if I will use all of them or if they will even fit on the back. To your question; I never did test a single cap for core or memory but I think the cap banks will help, especially for the memory due to the lower ESR of the banks vs single. Is it going to be a night and day difference?...no...but every little tweak helps.

ITS ALIVE!!!

I got this 680 Classy prepped to become my zombie board. The caps, 10Ga wire, and trimpot for voltage controls on both cards are hopefully coming tomorrow to do a basic vmod then cut and mount the 680 zombie this weekend.

Album of the mod: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

The XFX 8800 GT Alpha Dog is going to be the sacrifice for this experiment.

Nice work man!! I am very curious to see how this turns out for you. I have been looking on eBay for a modern broken card to do this with.

You broke a 780 Ti HOF? frown.gif
no i bought it for 70 bugs from a guy who said its just the bios :DD
i knew it would be broken but there was still a chance that it would work.
and a prolimatech mk-26 was on it, so 40 bugs for a new air cooler and 30 bugs for one of the nicest cards ever biggrin.gif

maybe i should throw it in the oven befor i cut it that would be so f***in awesome if it will work again tongue.gif:p
