Geforce 8800 DESTRUCTION Competition - DISCUSSION THREAD - Page 9

I probably won't be joining in on this but I wanted to share my 8800 series cards anyways.

I have some very fond memories with my BFG 8800GT OC2 512mb cards with Coolink GFXChilla coolers.
Those $20 coolers made the cards at LOAD run as cool or cooler than they did at IDLE with the stock single slot coolers and did so with no noise!
To clarify I ran a single 8800gt with my 3.6ghz Q6600 and on some p35/p45 boards and the 2nd was my cousins on an E2180 build I put together for him, and paid for most of it myself...

I recently tossed them in with my 4670k and Z87 board while I did some cleaning on my other cards!

Why not compete with those cards though?  It looks like your setup would be competitive.  4670k should be fine, I'm only using a 4770k and these are all single threaded benchmarks, so there is no advantage to multicore rigs.  Even a G3258 would be right in the mix if you had a good one.

I say give them their last hurrah, its what they were made for!

I have the cards sitting in my PC room and will probably pop it in my wife's 4670k. Just dread uninstalling the AMD drivers and installing nvidia then running the tests then uninstalling nvidia and reinstalling the AMD

It's faster than formatting a separate drive, just put it that way lol

If anyone has a spare 8800 for this comp, I'd like it to abuse it. Thank you.
