I'll get it done tonight and post pics. Stay posted,

Also anything else I need to up the voltage on or adjust? I've got my ram set at 1.4v

In your BIOS you can see some of the memory timings XMP sets. It's one of the sections under the last tab on the right in advanced IIRC. On my RAM kit XMP sets the eventual voltage to 1.35V, but perhaps yours is 1.4V; however, it sounds high.

You shouldn't have to up the voltage beyond 1.35V unless you are changing the timings manually and you're trying to stabilize them, but I can't help you there as I don't fully understand memory overclocking. I believe 1.2V is standard for DDR4 and 1.35V is for high end.

See the picture below of CPU-Z | SPD tab on my computer. The data in the BIOS shows more than CPU-Z does though.

This is where mine is at. looks like we both have the a same ram pretty much. 3000@c15.....
im going to mess with it tonight again and finish everything up. im getting tired of fooling with it.

Also i love using Aida64, but i wish i could use Asus RealBench. whenever i download it it seems it loads up then says "error collecting data" or something along those lines. only program Ive ever had not work for me..... so far.

you know i never knew OC could be so detailed. what ever happened to up the BCLK , multiplier and voltage and get a higher clock till the temps and clock are where you want them. i feel like a need a doctorate degree when i look at my AI tweaker in Bois. lol

im going to post pics of my Bios when i get home and show you my settings and we will go from there. thanks for your help.

Ok. I got my PC up and stable and got Real bench up and running. I'm very happy with the results and I'm done messing with it for now.. here are my bios pics and bench score. I downed my voltage to 1.35 and it runs flawlessly thanks for that heads up... Anything else you see in my setting I can mess with ? Or should?

You probably should back off on cache voltage. I remember reading about damage / degradation happening if its too high and that the limits for cache are less then core.

http://www.hardwareluxx.com/index.php/reviews/hardware/cpu/33127-oc-guide-bringing-haswell-e-to-its-limits.html?start=4

Those guys suggest a max in the range of 1.12 to 1.25.

Cache doesn't buy you much in practice really. Here's my similar realbench score with a much lower cache speed.

Thanks for the heads up bro. I got the voltage down to 1.25v but the only thing I was able to get with the cache multiplier stable was 30

First off your rig looks great!

I notice the DRAM is still at 1.4V. As michael-ocn pointed out overclocking the cache (uncore) doesn't gain much in performance and the suggested max voltage is 1.25V according every thread I've read on the subject. On my system when I enabled XMP it set the BCLK and CPU Strap to 125MHz. It also set the cache min and max to 24. This puts the cache and the memory at the same frequency, 3000MHz. Since those all seem to work together and there isn't much advantage to changing the cache multiplier you should just leave it be IMO.

I'm going to post my BIOS settings so you can see exactly what I've done. The only voltages that aren't set to auto are VCore and VCCIN (CPU Input Voltage). I spent probably 2 months on and off just reading threads and playing with settings before I reached this configuration. Hopefully it'll help to answer any questions you could ask about my system from a CPU overclocking perspective.

This is the DRAM SPD sub menu from the Tool menu. You can see some of the RAM timings here.

Wow man. very nice, you really went deep into the overclocking didn't you? i wonder if i copied your settings if id be able to reach the same numbers.... half of that stuff i dont even understand to be honest. like whats all that 120% value stuff you have selected.... and explain to me adaptive CPU voltage you have selected. is it safe?

just for kicks ill copy yours tonight and post up results. thumb.gif

X99 is complicated compared to z170 that's for sure when it comes to overclocking. Those x99 rigs are power hungry and use lots of power. And the heat/temps are pretty good for a 140W CPU! Glad I went Skylake! No regrets! Both platforms kick ass regardless. Great job man on those overclocks.
