Exactly.

And do they carry COMPETING products when they have one? Nope.

Sure they carry Microsoft products, but will you find a Zune for sale there? Nope.

Amazon can legally block third party sellers on amazon.com too. Nothing wrong or illegal with that.

Exactly, what next, people going into a Costco and seeing lots of Kirkland products but not seeing ANY Berkley-Jensen, Earth's Pride, Wellsley Farms, etc?

I swear, people just don't understand business or markets. I wish they would actually start teaching business in school again, instead of some of the stupid garbage that is taught these days.

Hmm smells to me like anti-competitive practices....

Meh! I'm using Amazon less and less. They are no longer the low price leader on most of their products; I usually can find things they sell for significantly less elsewhere and get better service. Their level of customer service has plummeted. If you don't buy into their Prime nonsense and choose free shipping for orders of $35 or more (it used to be $25 until recently), they will take as long as a week to fill an order before shipping it.

The reason I find value in my prime sub is because I can turn to Amazon to find almost anything shipped in two days. They have been doing a good job increasing the value of my subscription by offering more products and more features, but every time they remove something I can buy, they remove value from my prime subscription. The more other stores I have to use, the less I am interested in Amazon.

I can kinda get why they are doing this, but I don't consider Chromecast to be a competing product. I can use my Prime Stick to watch amazon exclusive steaming, but I can't mirror my phone to my TV. Apple TV is an entirely different beast and I'm just not an Apple guy so its irrelevant to me.

Not a big deal for me. Best case scenario they make up for it by adding more value to the Fire TV services. Worst case scenario, they keep removing competing products until it becomes another locked down Apple style environment. Will I not be able to buy other tablets soon? Other phones?
Actually it's not.

They're all the damn same. They offer all the same service. Any one that disagrees needs to Google their sites.

There are a ton of differences between eBay and Amazon.

That's all I'm saying.
There are tons of differences between Amazon and eBay. Not sure anyone is arguing that. It seems people are getting butthurt in this thread just for the sake of getting butthurt. For the record eBay charges a little under 10% for the sale of an item. Which in my opinion is robbery.

Apple sells Apple products. Amazon sells "all products from A to Z". Their business models are different, therefore they're judged differently. It reflects badly on Amazon.
Amazon, Roku, Apple, Google all offer the same damn service. Streaming of TV and movies. It's just another vendor offering goods. How many auto manufacturers are there in the world. All trying to make their own thing. End result .... a car/truck that has 4 tires, radio, seat belts, airbags, AC, etc.

Apple is not a market place like Amazon. They "other" products they sell are add-ons. Like the Otter Box. Nothing wrong with that and HARDLY puts Apple in the same boat as Amazon. You guys are comparing apples to candy bars here. Sheesh!

This whole statement is completely wrong.

They are indeed still the leader and if not they are now the same because other retailers have matched. I will concede they are not as low as they once were though.

The second part is a complete and udder fabrication. I work directly with Amazon daily and I can tell you first hand you will not find better customer service from any other online retailer.

This is completely dependent on the product. Many times they offer specials for free 2 day shipping and who can't really spend $35 to get free shipping? Seriously?!!!! They fill orders immediately. The fact that they send it economy is YOUR fault for being a cheap skate for not spending the cash for Prime.

My god man what are you thinking?!!!

The fact is, more times than not, when I find something on Amazon I want, if I can find it elsewhere (and I usually can), I can get for less. It didn't use to be that way but it certainly is now.

They DO NOT fill orders immediately when one doesn't pay for Prime. They used fill all orders within 24 hours but they no longer do; I'm convinced it is to penalize people who do not want to or cannot pay for Prime. I've seen orders take as long as week to get filled; not filled, shipped and delivered, just filled.

I never said a thing about how long shipping took; of course they send it economy. So what? I don't have an issue with that. It's how long they wait before filling the order that I have an issue with.

As far as being a cheapskate goes, was that offer to pay for Prime for me? If not, shut it! I'm an elderly handicapped pensioner on a so called fixed income (the pension is fixed, Social Security's annual COLA is a joke) so I have to watch my budget pretty closely. Why should I pay extra for Prime when I can get free shipping anyway?

Btw, if you were as smart as you think you are, you would realize from my username I am not a man.

The competition finally begins...in all honesty I am surprised it took this long for Amazon to take this stance.

THE REAL ISSUE... Yeah, it kinda sucks Amazon won't sell them. You have every right to be pissed off, upset or happy. Just because you might be pissed off or upset doesn't mean there is any legal recourse for your suffrage except to shop elsewhere and stomp your feet.

If Amazon were the only store you were allowed to use and had absolutely no other place to purchase and Amazon did this? Well it wouldn't matter then anyways because you'd have far greater issues than wondering how you'll get a Chromecast or Apple TV.

It seems many people consider Amazon to be a public service. Ha!

I just use my PS3 and PS4 for my streaming needs. They have every service I use. Netflix, Vudu, and Hulu. Amazon Prime doesn't have the original series I like. And I rarely watch movies. I like watching a series. I've never had an interest in Amazon's services other than Prime Shipping and I bet I'm in the majority.
