someone please help me set up NFS share on ubuntu?

Thread Starter
First time linux user. I have 5 hdds in the linux system, each contains one folder, each folder has a ton of media files in it. I want to set them all up as NFS shares that my openelec Kodi client can access.

The hard drives are named hgst1, hgst2, etc.

The folders inside each hdd are named hgst1_movies, hgst2_movies, etc.

The hdds are being mounted inside /media/taem [taem = username]

I changed ownership of /media to taem.

I edited the exports file and added

/media 192.168.1.x(rw,async,insecure,no_subtree_check,nohide) [**The x is the ip of my openelec box**]

I assumed the contents of /media would be shared this way. But no, the hard drives are not showing up.

So I added each hdd separately:

/media/taem/hgst1/hgst1_movies 192.168.1.x(rw,insecure,no_subtree_check,nohide)
/media/taem/hgst2/hgst2_movies 192.168.1.x(rw,insecure,no_subtree_check,nohide)
etc

Now the hdds show up, but the contents are not being added to kodi.

What is it I'm doing wrong?

I'm just jumping into this myself, so I'm not really sure how much I can help until I get my issue resolved first, but are those NFS shares in the same machine as the Kodi client? If not, I would make sure that you can see them from another computer/device on the network.

Regardless of if they are or not, I would think that you would have to point the software to those drives so it would access it.

Kodi Wiki on NFS shares

That might help.
