Actually I think it's much more likely we will see it in DX12, they are not going to push for DX13 anytime soon.

As for this, other than better physics integrated in DX12 (hopefully), I can't see any good in this. Seems like all the big players are buying up left and right now, we need more players on the field to even the market. For API's there is hope though with Vulcan and other's. Hardware, not so much.

Let's hope so, it's quite clear that unless AMD suddenly finds 40-50% IPC and power savings to go along with that, they can't do it on their own.

You mean like designing Zen for the last 4-5 years to go from 32nm to 14nm and have IPC 40% over Excavator? (which would mean like, 60-70% over piledriver i guess? not sure how much better excavator is since it's only on very low power laptop APU's)

Yes. If Zen performs. I've become very wary of AMD claims ever since "OMMERRGODD BULDOOZAARR".

Microsoft wouldn't have purchased this if they didn't have clear intent on using it or something like it for a specific reason. The only thing I can think of is for it's use with HoloLens app development.

hololens makes sense. i don't see it meaning more than that honestly, no news here folks, lets move on. tongue.gif

they can't buy AMD... it would give them too much of a monopoly again and the feds would punish them hard.
