Best place to learn intermediate to advanced Excel

Thread Starter
I'm not sure this belongs in the programming section (please move to correct section), but where online or what book would be the best place to learn intermediate to advanced Excel skills?

I'm talking pivot tables, macros, modelling, solver, data tables, advanced functions, etc. I am also looking for tips and tricks for working with large data volumes.

There are quite a few websites advertising Lynda. Truth be told, it does not have to be a website, it could be a book or something else; I would actually prefer something to read over videos and to download to manipulate with. Ideally it would have large data set examples for me to play around with to get the hang of it.

I'd like to someday become a really proficient at working with Excel.

My advice is figure out a crazy project that you want to do. Start doing it. When you can't figure something out, then google for an answer. Chances are someone has already asked and got a solution. Implement the solution reading why it works and continue on. That is how I learned to create really advanced excel and access projects. You will learn much better that way than you will from example projects in a book.
