Windows 10 insomnia (randomly waking from sleep)

Thread Starter
After upgrading both of my systems (Gaming rig and school laptop) to Win10, they both have a similar issue. When I put the system into standby/sleep mode, it eventually wakes back up for no apparent reason.

Now I know about using powercfg to track down the culprit as this has happened before, but it seems to have no record of the event that wakes the machine - "Wake Source Count" has size 0 immediately after it wakes up. So my usual trick for fixing this problem isn't helping.

This wouldn't normally be a huge problem, except that it keeps my laptop from holding a charge (as it constantly turns back on), and when my gaming rig does it in the middle of the night, and my dark bedroom is suddenly bathed in green light and loud mechanical noises, you can see how that would be a bit disorienting...

Anyone else had this happen since going to Windows 10?

Try this:
Right-click My Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager -> Mice -> Right-click your mouse -> Power Management -> Allow this device to wake up the computer

Do this for every mouse, keyboard, and network adapter that has the option.

You can then wake the computer by the power button when you want it to wake up.
