I used the TIM that came with the Noctua fan (NT-H1) and probably put 1/3 less than what this guy put on in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rn0BqMyXBM
I didn't clean the CPU spreader off before mounting the cooler (figured right out of the plastic would be as clean as it gets, maybe I was wrong.
Also, turns out I'm an idiot and was using the mounts for my old noctua cooler instead of the mounts that came on the new one for the 120mm fan. I just managed to get a 120mm fan on there, though I think I might change from the CPU_OPT header to one of the other headers and just set the target to the CPU. There's no separate control for that fan that I could find. It's idling between 32c-36c one the cores, but package shows 40c.
I'm running another stress test now to see if there's much improvement.
Looks like it made almost no difference at all.
I am a bit confused why AIDA and HWM are showing different values, though.
Oh, looks like TUF detective has a different opinion as well...Edited by pocketdrummer - 10/2/15 at 10:58pm
