EVGA GTX980Ti Backplate problem

Thread Starter
Hi all,
I have bought two EVGA GTX980Ti ACX 2.0 reference.

The reference acx does not come with the backplate so I bought two backplate.
I screwed up my backplate firmly but I noticed that the thermal pad on the backplate does not touch the cards, there is a millimeter between the thermal pad and my card.

Is this normal? Is there someone with a ACX 2.0 backplate version that can tell me if its backplate touch the PCB correctly?

Is the thermal pad thick enough? I wouldn't try and screw the backplate down more because you could cause the PCB to flex or even split in half..
