Upgrade build

Thread Starter
Hey all, looking for some advice at the end of the month I was potentially going to upgrade my graphics card, but been toying with the idea of a slightly bigger upgrade. Which I'm not sure if its worth it or not so hence I'm here.

Now the current spec is as followed:

Thermaltake Core V1 Mini
MSI A88XI AC FM2 Motherboard
AMD 860k x4
8gb Corsair 1866mhz Ram
MSI R7 370 GPU
1TB WD Blue / 240GB Corsair SSD
Thermaltake 630w PSU - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/630w-thermaltake-sps-630mpcbeu-80-plus-bronze-1x140mm-atx-psu

Now my budget is around £500 , but also keep in mind will I need to re-purchase Windows 10 as I upgraded from 8.1 if I change components?

I basically game, a massive variety of games and have considered streaming as well. Along with photo editing and web design too, what should I upgrade to?

You dont need to re buy your OS if you have Windows 8,1 its free to upgrade to Windows 10.
And your weakest part if your video card as a 370 is not all that great.

Your PSU is not outstanding either but its not bad just mediocre, you dont need to buy a new PSU right now if you want a better video card.
But you should down the road once you have money again.

The OP upgraded to windows 10 already, which means his 8.1 license has been transferred to windows 10. If he upgraded from an oem version of 8.1 and not a retail version, he will need to buy a new license. If he owns a retail copy of 8.1 , he can use the serial to reinstall windows 10.

Did you want to stick with AMD or go with an Intel build? A haswell i5 and board with the ram from your current build will do nicely, although you won't have much for a GPU after the motherboard and CPU. If you didn't have to buy an OS you could get a GTX960 or an R9 380 with your budget.

If you sell your current parts

This could be an option
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/9mWbMp

But for games that prefer higher IPC/singlethread performance over Multi-threads (most games) get an intel core i5 at least 4670k/4690k with a z87/z97 mobo like the gigabyte gaming 5 or z87-A

Another Option to save money is getting an used r9 290/x and get a windows key at reddit microsoft software swap

Ok just an update the upgrade will happen at the end of the month, I'm happy to spend around £600. Now I would prefer trying to go Skylake simply to have the latest gen and DDR4 etc... is there a big difference between the i5 and i7? Also I need it to fit in the Mini ITX cube case, and choice of cooler seems to bother me simply because its always a tight fit. Forgot to add I will be buying a new copy of Windows 10 in that budget as mine is an OEM copy.

Please don't buy a Thermaltake case. A certain company that DEFINITELY isn't thermaltake wink.gifwink.gif pretty much steals all their designs, does nothing original, and has very low product quality (in my opinion, of course). You would be much better served by an entry level case from Corsair or Silverstone or Cooler Master. I can almost recommend Antec as well but their low end is pretty barf enducing lately. Oh and lest we forget Fractal and NZXT.
