AMD is preparing Dual Fiji launch - To be named Fury Gemini/R9 Gemini?

Found this yesterday. smile.gif

Apparantly the upcoming dual GPU flagship from AMD which will have dual Fiji chips is looking like it will be called Fury Gemini or R9 Gemini.

I searched around a bit for the meaning of Gemini and found this
Quote:
Gemini were twin brothers in Greek mythology known as the Dioscuri, meaning "sons of Zeus."

AMD shipped 6 Fury Gemini on September 31st and 20 new cards on October 1st. So Im very positive that since they shipped so many, reviewers have started getting theirs or will be in the coming days. You may notice that it shipped from Canada which is AMDs graphic headquarter. Gemini will also use Cooler Master and they will not be changing to Asetek which was the provider for the cooling on the R9 295X2

It also looks like the value over Fury X is not 2x as much, 125 000INR vs 75 000INR, so perhaps we get a decent priced Fury Gemini? I sure hope so thumb.gif
Price comparison against Fury X:

Nice name, wack card.

Here's hoping there's no pump noise, TBH they have had enough time to sort it.

I get $1080 price for the Gemini card if I use the values above.
Value for the Gemini is 66% higher than Fury X.

$649 * 1.66 is $1080. So perhaps we get it at $999-$1099?

they'd better drop that Fury X to 66%. I wonder if $650 Fury X would get me steady 60fps in FC4. All that Radeons are good at is ramping up max fps when not under CPU overhead, then boasting higher avg fps.

Has anyone seen any sort of new GPU benchmarks for Fiji, possibly on 15.9 ?

Darn that TITAN X value is getting slaughter left and right by Fury X, Fury X2 & 980Ti LOL. Not to mention it doesnt even have double precision either.

Not much left with Titan X once Gemini and dual GM200 launch no.
Nvidia should just end production of it.

It's like questioning the price/performance difference between 4930k and 4960x. It's not supposed to be well priced, it's supposed to be the best in every possible aspect.

I think they've sold enough. I wonder how much more they're making on every sold Titan X compared to full Fiji. Plus is this card really gonna be a contender for Titan X ? Not for every buyer....

Nice ! Good to hear that the launch is getting closer and closer. Saved up the pennies for this card as I wanted to go for a Dual GPU Single PCB solution for a while now but made no sense to go and get a replacement 295x2 with this round the corner.
