SSD for my Alienware Alpha?

Thread Starter
I would like help deciding on an SSD for my Alienware Alpha, I would like to have bigger then 1TB drive and was looking at the Samsung 850 2TB Evo or Pro but not sure if it is worth the extra $200 for the pro vs evo? Should I wait longer for them to get bigger as the Alpha can only hold 2.5" Drives? I have the maxed out version with i7 in it.thumb.gif Please and Thank You!

save your money and get the EVO, your system won't benefit from the PRO for 200 bucks more.

Well, if you're looking for speed (and you get reliability and longevity with it too) it would be the Pro.

Do you have room to put 2 drives in the machine?
If so then get a 1tb ssd and then get a large drive for storing things that dont' benefit from having an SSD.

It would be silly to spend that much money on an SSD when you can get the same performance spending 1/3rd the price.

If the alpha can't have multiple drives in it, then get an external to use for storing games.
Most games don't actually benefit from an SSD, and would run just fine off of something like a USB3 external.

It definitely does not have room for 2 drives only one, because it only has one SATA port where you put the drives. I pretty much new that games wouldn't benefit from it. Thank You!

I was definitely leaning towards that one for sure just wanted to make sure. The only thing I wish was that they would come out with bigger SSD's faster because it doesn't look like they will be making 2.5" HDD drives bigger then 2TB!
