2 sli cards one xfire board

Hey guys- long story short I've ended up with two NVIDIA 760's and a crossfire board. I've tried the hack to get SLI to work anyway, but it wouldn't work for me frown.gif

I'm wondering what I should do with this other card. Gaming is the primary function of this system, and EVE online is my primary game- often I run two clients at once over two monitors. If I install both GPU's and plug in a different monitor to each, will each GPU be responsible for rendering what is on it's corresponding monitor?

Also, I before I realized I was on a crossfire only board, I had both 760s plugged in with the bridge on, and I was experiencing occasional errors (the nvidia driver has stopped responding but has recovered). Is it possible this had something to do with those errors?

Finally, I'd like to test each one of these cards to see if one is possibly going bad and might be responsible for the SLI on xfire hack not working as well as possibly causing my errors. What would be the best way to do that? Plug in one at a time and run furmark? Do I have to reinstall drivers each time I change the card (they are both 760s, but from different manufacturers)?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for reading!

Please give us more details about your rig. CPU, MOBO, GPUS etc.

Based on what you said, the only way you will get those GPUS to work on that board is by using the second GPU as a PhysX card. Plug your secondary monitor to the second GPU and use it as an auxiliary, not an in surround mode.

Your best bet is to find a motherboard, that supports SLI, shouldn't be too expensive, but we can't provide suggestions until you tell us more about your rig.

Windows 10 pro
Core 2 quad 9650
Asus P5Q Pro mobo
8g g.skill ddr 800 (4x2)
MSI GTX 760
Gigabyte GTX 760

Bios firmware is up to date as are gpu drivers.

HyperSLI should have worked, not sure if its still being patched. You can run two EVE clients on separate monitors if you want and have each GPU render one client. I would give HyperSLI another go, SLI is great when you get it going.

I would love to get it working, but every time I chose to enable sli in the NVIDIA control panel, my system freezes. I followed every instruction to the letter : /

Just a thought, do you have anything that uses virtualisation? Maybe a Virtual machine or an emulator like PSXC (playstation) etc.

I'm not sure if they ever fixed that issue with HyperSLI and running any other software that used virtualisation. Back on my AMD 890 chipset motherboard (xfire only) if I ran anything else it would crash the next reboot.

Also check to see if you do have it enabled in BIOS. You do require virtualisation enabled for HyperSLI to work. Also don't use the latest nvidia drivers, always stay a couple versions behind in case they lock out the new ones.
