Sadly, FPGAs are generally not cheap. Sure there are cheap ones, but the caliber of chips that would be using the most advanced new technology and speeds and need throughput boosts are the ones that cost a LOT of money.

Pretty sure IBM has been experimenting with this stuff on general computing chips too for a while now.

I'm sorry but I have to interject. That's like saying a fire hose has the same flow rate as a straw. You can try, but good luck getting it to hold the pressure. "Channel volume" will have everything to do with flow rate unless pressurization is of no concern. That's how pressure washers work. Squeeze tons of water though a tiny pinhole and it creates pressure. It would be my educated guess that pressure is an unwanted side effect of on-chip microprocessor water cooling, so "flow rate" will have to suffer. We're talking 50 micron pipelines, with water. What's it going to pump without over pressurizing the chip? 5mL a minute? 50 microns!!

I'd like to reiterate the "at a constant driving pressure" part. Equal flow rate through a smaller orifice can't be achieved without increasing pressure. I can see this being a huge factor for such a small piece of equipment.

I have access to MillQ water at work, should I use that for my water cooling loop rather than distilled water, or would it not make much difference?

Actually volume for a tube is V = π(a^2 - b^2)h.

And your flow rate formula is off also.

Thread cleaned.

Can we please debate each other with respect and not resort to name calling?

Please?

Oh lordy, no. Probably the number one cause of amp failure is overheated MOSFETs. Especially when driven under the recommended minimum impedance and especially when pushed hard in hot climates. Liquid cooled amplifiers could open a world of possibilities, including smaller size due to less space needed for heatsinks.

Great - anything we can do to reduce the dT between the chip and the water is great, and removing a few heat transfer steps is a good way to do that. Currently the water - component dT is in the order of 20-40°C, plenty of room for improvement there.

That looks more like the volume of the material of the tube itself, assuming a and b are OD and ID respectively, not the internal volume.
