I'm all for progress and better looking more demanding games. I am sadly an enthusiast, if I was happy with just normal gaming I would just stick with my PS4, which I have considered at times but the allure of higher settings and fancy new hardware always keeps me on PC biggrin.gif

Roll on progress..

For me Pascal, Skylake -E and more demanding games sounds lovely thumb.gif

Everyone else (Not enthusiast) can just enjoy console or console level fidelity, that's a good valid option as well. I'm glad to see higher end setups being catered for also. More demanding games please !

I thought I was pretty clear, nobody here is talking about general purpose here - no game to date has benefitted from 16gb system memory. I'm sure the industry appreciates you not asking questions.

And about RAM... I can easily kill my 16gb of ram by running an Ark: Survival Evolved server with 5-10 friends while also playing on it (I keep having to use RAMMAP to empty out the dam cache which is annoying tongue.gif ).

Key word, server thumb.gif

So, all things combined, I can believe 8gb+

What do you mean? Is Win 10 known to be a memory hog?

Win 10 is hardly using any memory for me, I've got a Plex server and a whole bunch of other junk running and it's barely using over 2GB.

Nah, it works well.

It uses about 9gb in game and with some background tasks running. Also, it's using superfetch to pre-load a lot of stuff. I have 16gb RAM, so I kinda wish Windows would use more of it to make things quicker. I hate seeing my RAM empty, it's just sitting there doing nothing.

Right now at idle, i'm using 2.2gb, that's with Firefox and Thunderbird open.

8GB is nothing. Heck my Intel NUC i5 has 12GB of RAM. rolleyes.gif

Like most games today, this has inflated system requirement. These days, minimum requirement = PS4 quality in most games.

If you play it on low settings then you should fine even if your PC is below minimum requirement.

Tell that to users who purchase 64GB kits on the premise the system supports it biggrin.gif

64GB 2400Mhz or 16GB 3200Mhz - of which I will make a fair use of, decisions. (There are people who genuinely need this much memory, this quandary is regarding gaming)

The bold is not even remotely true, actually. According to steam polls, most PC gamers play with specs that don't even come close to the consoles. Also, Look at some of the recent "demanding" games and you'll see, for example, that PS4 is equivalent to "high" settings (the Witcher 3, Batman, etc). So probably more than 99% of new games run "low" at way below the console specs.

You're correct, though, that PC requirements are inflated. I attribute this to lack of specific hardware targets and allowing games to run on the primary PC gaming consumer's PCs, which happen to be extremely week.
