A lot of people will be uninstalling now, as those are the kinds of people that might not enjoy what PvP there is. I am one of the types that loves the blaster combat, and just keep going back for that PvP.
The full content should bring a lot of those people back. I am interested in how they expand it.
I won as Rebels almost as much as I won as Imperials (I win more as Imperials and get more kills though).
The key to winning with Rebels is:
1) Save your orbital blasts and use them only when the walkers are vulnerable.
2) Save your ION blasts/Nades and only use them when the walkers are vulnerable.
Both above items stay in your cards even when you die. Orbital blasts deal the most damage to the walkers.
Those two above methods work assuming your team does not have air superiority and know what they are doing. But if your team have good jet pilots, you can use the jets to deal damage to the walkers too for quicker win.
Another method is using the Jet Hook - but I always crash into the mountain side, ground, or walker when looping around the legs.
