[MCV]CD Projekt Red: 'Cyberpunk 2077 is far, far bigger than The Witcher 3'

Cyberpunk 2077, the next game from The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red, is the biggest title the studio has ever made.

The sci-fi-flavoured RPG was originally announced back in 2012, but the Polish outlet has remained quiet on specificities of the project since.

Now it has been revealed that the title will be ever grander in scale than the third and final entry in the developer’s sprawling fantasy series, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

“Cyberpunk is far bigger than anything else that CD Projekt Red has done before,” visual effects artist Jose Teixeira told MCV. “Far, far bigger.

This is quite possibly my most desired upcoming game to play in the sci-fi genre. Ahead of Titanfall 2, Overwatch, and even StarCitizen, for me personally. This ain't much of news for some of us but for those that got mad preferences for all things thematically near-future(especially cyberpunk), the statement speaks volumes.

Yes, and it is also far, very far away from being released.

Mostly flat terrain and square buildings that you can't go inside are easy to copy/paste. Since this is Sci-Fi I assume it's going to be just one massive futuristic city. I doubt it'll have the detail of the 2 biggest cities in Witcher 3, especially since you can go inside 99% of the buildings.

I'm sure it'll be a good game, but being bigger isn't a surprise to me.

So what? Each Assassins Creed game gets bigger every time but ends up more boring and repetitive with always the same copy & paste randomized world objects around the world.

Bigger isn't always better BUT thus far CDPR hasn't made a game that was just a bunch of empty space and copy/pasted filler *cough* Bethesda! *cough*. Does it mean their infallible? Not at all. Just means our chances are better than most that we'll get a decent game in the end.

No matter what the size of the game is if it's done with at least the degree of depth and thought that TW3 had but is Cyberpunk then I think we'll all be in for a treat!

Looking forward to it when it comes in 2017/2018 smile.gif

Lets see when they are ready to show first gameplay of it

I thought Bethesda normally does a good job when it comes to detail and the depth of the game world they create, especially the fallout series. headscratch.gif

I know I'm in the minority here but I honestly don't have enough time to put 100 hours into a game anymore. I played through the first few chapters of the Witcher 3 and I'm still only about 15 hours in.

I would rather have a more detailed world that was smaller than a huge expansive world. I liked Deus Ex HR because it was detailed and the atmosphere really made you feel like you were in a futuristic world, even though the game was physically small. I'm all about atmosphere though and some people might be into gameplay and world size.

I just hope the big world size doesn't make it look generic kind of like how GTA V looks. I hope they can make the atmosphere and ambiance really futuristic. That's what I'm looking for.

That is why there are games like The Order 1886, Crysis 3 and Until Dawn.

The good thing is that the world doesn't revolve around you. People with less time can play games that are shorter instead of hoping that games that other people do enjoy get mutilated.

I hope you are not offended by my post, but rather be considerate of other gamers that do enjoy huge games that are 100+ hours long. thumb.gif

I'm not sure it's right to assume they mean just or even map size. Hopefully its meant that the world is a more complex enviroment that ever before. If this game also has the humour of The Witcher series then it would possibly my perfect game as its an rpg with a sci fi theme. Cannot wait till we no more about this.
